Perfect Days (2023)
A slow paced movie about being content and happy with the present.
He does not say much, nor need much, he is content with his job as a toilet cleaner, and enjoy the small moments in life, like observing the sun shine through the leaves.
Finding contentment in the present is something that we need to be reminded of in this era full of distractions, and this movie did just that.
The character portrayed in the movie is a simple man - from the outside, but it's clear that he has a rich inner world full of life and imagination.
It's rarely to see a character like this for 2 hours on the big screen, but im so glad someone finally did it. Throughout the screening I heard multiple people in the cinema yawn and sigh, perhaps they expected a marvel superhero movie?
Körkarlen (1921)
Timeless in both performance and subject
David Holm was the worst of the worst. He lived a life of sin without regrets. Eventually his way of living got the best of him. He had to face the consequences of his wreckless acts. But is it to late to feel remorse and change for the better?
Many movies will fade with time, but this one still holds up today, 102 years after it's release.
In a very poetic and straight forward way it spoke to me about life, death, grace, love, forgivness. Subjects that most people can relate to.
The music is not something i would ever listen to by choice but it suits the format very well.
I left the cinema with a lot to process, this movie was a treat, it gave a lot and took nothing from me.
Kaibutsu (2023)
Complex and well done drama
Monster invites us to follow along the same timeline repeatedly three times, from seperate perspectives that differs a lot, yet the movie succeeds extremely well in stitching them together.
I find myself disliking characters that from one perspective are portrayed as the "monster" of this drama, but as it plays out more and more i reevaluate my judgement. Nothing is black and white, there's always another side to the story.
The cinematography is beautiful wich also adds to the experience.
It did feel very lengthy. Wich is ok, it could have been shorter, but some movies are suppose to be slow.. and even boring at times, similar to life itself. Ir.
