The Identical (2014)
Go see "The Identical" well worth your $10 bucks
I saw "The Identical" and enjoyed it very much No, not a great film, but a fantasy.. with true warmth and feeling. Yes its based on The Elvis Presley story that he had a twin,, who died at birth. This film shows what if this were not true... Twin survived but due to the depression parents could not afford to keep 2 children, . So they give one child up, with difficulty to a minister and his wife ( Ray Liotta& Ashley Judd) who could not have children.. Everything is explained believably... Drexel ( Elvis) & Dexter( brother) are separated, and Dexter is given to Minister & wife.. There's a lot of warmth and feeling in this film, and the actor Blake... (sporry forgets last name) plays the Elvis role so well, and looks so much like Elvis... and his twin survived, and captured (eventually) the same talents as Elvis ( Drexel) Dexter becomes Drexel after his death, and though ELVIS name is never mentioned but highly suggested.. I was moved to tears several times, esp, when Dexter realizes hes probably Drexels (Twin brother) This is the stuff dreams are made of. A few years ago there was a book & film written about The JFK assassination, Someone had a premonition about assassination, and stopped it.. This is the same type of film that haunts us of the possibility IF ??? Go see it well worth it Not a great film but much worth seeing do not dismiss'The Identical" Mike P. 9/7/14
Million Dollar Arm (2014)
Excellent Feel Good Film!!!(MILLION DOLLAR ARM)
I really enjoyed this film. Its a great baseball film, a great feel good film. Perfect for Memorial Day Weekend ( as was "42" last yr). This is heartwarming , moving, inspirational, and should be seen by all' I guarantee you will love it. One of the best baseball movies I've ever seen. But not only about baseball is also about learning to respect other cultures, The entire cast was great, loved Dashin, & Runka , and BRENDA ( Ms. Lake) a real find,,, Go see it You will come out feeling happy and enthralled, as well as inspired. Its too bad was released same week as Godzilla Imax.. This film is 10 times better.. Up there with Pride Of The Yankees,Bang The Drum Slowly, Field Of Dreams, The Natural and last years much underrated film "42" Go see it you will love it!!!
The Explosive Generation (1961)
A Very Significant Film!!!
I Just watched " The Explosive Generation" on TCM this morning 7/26/13 and found it to be very significant. It was one of the earliest films to show the younger generation, beginning to protest, and stand up for their rights. It was filmed about 5 or 6 yrs before the Viet Nam War protests etc...And the start of turbulent years 60s-70s. Great cast: William Shatner, Lee Kinsolving, Patty McCormick, Billy Gray and Stephen Dunne.... Thanks to TCM for airing this very good but obscure movie. It was maybe crudely directed, but still very effective. The cast many of whom had TV careers ( Patty Mckormick was on "I Remember Mama", and who can forget her unforgettable performance in "The Bad Seed". William Shatner, became a major star in the "Star Trek" TV series and films. Billy Gray was on "Father Knows Best", for me one of the best sitcom, family shows ever on TV, and he was in the greatest Sci-Fi films ever " The Day The Earth Stood Still" Stephen Dunne was on TV in several series. Sad to hear that Lee Kinsolving passed away at age 39. He was excellent in this film, and others such as " Dark At The Top of The Stairs etc. The film is worth seeing, with a fine cast and bought back many memories for me.
Les Misérables (2012)
A Great Historic Film Not To be Misssed
Les Miserables is the best movie I've seen this year As great as the Broadway show was, the film is better, more action the closeups. etc The cast is excellent HUGH JACKMAN should receive an Oscar for his performance as should Anne Hathawy wonderful performances Russell Crowe is excellent as well though his voice doesn't stand up to the others Auduence broke out in applause several times (rare in a NJ theater) After Hathaways moving performance " I Dreamed A Dream" " and "Master of The House" ( Sascha Cohen , Helen Bonham Carter hysterical,) and for Hugh Jackmans performance of "Bring Him Home"At the end received a standing ovation.. Long yes 3 hrs, never boring not a bad moment in film beautifully directed by Tom Holland and photographed.. The most satisfying film I've seen this year ( and there are many good films this yr) Note* Glad Colm Wilkinson Broadways original Jean Val Jean was included in a small part as the preacher.. Ot to be missed!!
