Bugsy Malone (1976)
Great, great, great!
I, personally, love the thirties with the music, the clothes, the bars and the gang wars. It must have been really rough to live at that time, but this is a very romantic version of the thirties and I love it. It's genius to have only children acting since it makes it more fun instead of serious - but grown people can still watch it since it is a good story. I'm not good at judging actors skills, but the way I see it, the important roles in this film are very well acted, them being only kids. It's great music (but why do grown-ups sing?) and the sets are fun to watch (I'm wondering whether they have made smaller side-scenes to fit the children's size?). Well, I don't really have much more to say except ENJOY THE MOVIE!
Yrrol - En kolossalt genomtänkt film (1994)
You have to see this
As a swede, I know and love the comedians in this film, but even so, I believe I would have loved it even if that wasn't the case. This is a bunch of sketches put together with a red line through it; different people. The script is so hilarious, just think of the line "don't include me in our relationship". The actors are superb and deliver the really, really queer lines as if they took them out of thin air. Me and my friends are using this movie all the time in everyday conversation and people around us are going insane from listening to us saying "you wanted to. and I said yes" - "yes?" - "YEAH! And then it felt wrong". If it's not funny reading it (I am laughing my ass off) just go see the movie and you'll never want to let it go!
And by the way, if you like this it's not certain you'll like johnny English. this is not at all the same thing. I love this movie and I never even laughed while watching Johnny English.
The Scorpion King (2002)
Hilarious
This is, by far, one of the most amusing movies I've ever seen. The first time I saw it, and the first time I saw The Rock, I only watched the final fight. When he had thrown The Bad Guy in the ocean of flames (where, 3 minutes later, people are standing??), saved the girl (who was a prisoner whom he saved) and rescued the people, he is standing in front of the full moon and the girl comes running to his side. As he breathes in to lift his sword I started roaring. My brother, who was watching, gave me a queer glance. I said 'Oh come on! It's just like in the lion king when Simba is to become king and walks up the cliff and roar!'. That is my conclusion on this movie. But don't misunderstand me, I love it. It's perfect to watch when you need a little cheering up. Makes you laugh better than Eddie Murphy, promise you that.
The Crazy World of Julius Vrooder (1974)
Charming!
I saw this on a late night television show and I fell deep, deep in love with it. Julius Vrooder is one of the most wonderful characters I've seen this far. He is witty, young, vulnerable and in love. The fact that the makers succeeded in making him both fun and sad is remarkable. Often the characters only have one side; they're funny, bored, stupid and so on, so on. But Julius Vrooder really shows the depth of a regular human being. That they also made a 100 minutes movie about a guy in a V.A mental hospital and his love for the nurse during a few days without making it a romantic comedy in the same genre as Pretty Woman and You've got mail is stunning. It's one of the first romantic comedies/dramas I've ever seen which contains love without making it sugar sweet with extra pink in it and I love it! The man (I forgot his name) who plays Julius is does also make a wonderful character of the paper. He is living in Vrooders small world with a depth that takes me away. I couldn't give this film a vote less than a ten!
