Sundowners (2017)

Overall a really good film - nothing less, nothing more.

Had to install a VPN to be able to buy it on some American Google-store, because for whatever reason this film doesn't have a European distribution. Anyhow: Really liked it. Very competent, good acting, good photography, good direction. Overall a really good film - nothing less, nothing more.

Golden Exits (2017)

Slow and filled with clichés but still very touching

Even though the film is slow and some of the characters are one-dimensional clichés, I was still quite touched by it. Mostly because the dialogues are well written and the acting is top-notch. Good photography and soundtrack also helps.

Patriot (2015–2018)

One of the best shows I've ever seen...

...and in my opinion up there with the greats (Sopranos, The Wire etc.).

Patriot is basically a mix of Fargo, a Wes Anderson-film and a 70s-spy thriller. It's certainly not for everyone, as it has a very cinematic feel and can feel slow at times, but if you like the above-mentioned films, you will most certainly like this show. Can't wait for season two.

Monsters (2010)

Great movie but more romance than sci-fi

The atmosphere that Gareth Edwards is able to create is simply astonishing. Like many said before: This movie cost 15k to make! Which is hard to believe when you watch it. The acting, the camera camera, the special effects and especially the score are just great. Film Students from all over the world should take a look at it and learn how to use a limited budget effectively. That said even though the movie is called Monsters and considered Science Fiction, it is in fact more of romance than a monster flick. If you look for another D-9 you will be disappointed.

However its a must watch and one of the most underrated movies of 2010.
