One day, while performing a solo enactment of the Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny his barbaric, narrow-minded father barged in, accused him of being "a fairy" and beat him severely.
The next day, Binger gathered his meager belongings, consisting mostly of the classics of literature "borrowed" from public and school libraries, and made his way north, hopping trains with hoboes and other itinerants.
Eventually he found a home with like-minded individuals in the "East Village" of Manhattan. There, he was able to flex his acting and writing muscles, bringing his Mississippi roots and style to the Northeast, starring plays by Faulkner and writing his own plays such as "I Found Yo Teef" and " Can't Nobody Do Nuffin."
Binger currently lives in Bethel, New York with his wife Muffinblaster and runs a tie-dye and primal-scream encounter establishment.

Brave New Jersey (2016)
Just dreadful
A comedy? You ar supposed to laugh while watching a comedy, right? I found this comedy oddly devoid of humor. The pace is slow and slower. As a period piece, I found many anachronisms. It's supposed to be set in New Jersey. It doesn't look like new Jersey - even in the 1930s. I know. I live in New Jersey and my family has since the 18th Century. It looks more like rural Kentucky. A film should grab you and draw you in. This one left me wondering what was on TV. My parents were alive during this time. They did not believe that Martians had landed. Most people didn't. I think a film based on Orson Wells' adaptation of what might have happened if Martians had actually landed would have made for a much better film. Otherwise, watching Buckaroo Banzai is a better use of your time.
Stranded (2001)
Flawed but sincere
If you like spectacular special effects, creatures and explosions, move on. However, to me this is one of the film's strong points. Granted, it is a fairly low-budget production but achieves a convincing amount of realism. My willful suspension of disbelief was tested by the fact that the astronauts don't behave much like astronauts, some of the acting is far from stellar and my inner geek was offended by a few minor scientific errors. For instance; Vincent Gallo gives a top-notch performance but in my opinion was miscast. Real astronauts are just not that high - strung. Director María Lidón cast herself in the lead role but, in contrast to Gallo, was too low keyed. Production values are generally high, particularly considering that the main spacecraft set was recycled from Space Cowboys. The location shots on the island of Lanzarote do indeed look quite a bit like Mars. Lidón is to be commended for the film and resisting the temptation to resort to over-the-top effects and clichés. Compared to other films of this genre, and budget, it stands out and entertains.
