Dune (2021)
Very disappoint
I've just seen Dune.
I'm very VERY disappointed.
Great visuals - probably the best CGI I've ever seen. But it was all fighting & battles & killing - I don't remember the first one being like that - but I haven't read the books, so maybe it's true to them. The actor playing Paul had zero charisma, very bland & I didn't really care about him. As much as I usually like Hans Zimmerman's film music, this was absolutely relentless - I don't think it stopped for more than 10-seconds before starting up again. And the Mother kept whispering her lines, so I could rarely understand what she was saying. I'm not bothered about Pt.2.
Dark Encounter (2019)
Oh dear
Well, that's 2hrs of my life that I'll never get back. The acting was fine, I guess.
A VERY poor man's CE of 3K . . It was all there AGAIN - a missing child, the truck along the road stopping, the light above the truck, the torch suddenly coming on, the orange lights descending behind the house shutters, the record starting to play, the knives flying, the light coming down the chimney - & even the clapping monkey !! Really ! No new ideas at all !!
For me to enjoy a Scifi film, it has to be believable - & this certainly was not &, halfway through, I began to lose interest.
The final 20 mins are totally absurd - completely ridiculous. If aliens are SO intelligent & SO far advanced, why would they waste their time (& all those bad effects & noisy spacecraft !) on something so trivial on Earth? And why don't they solve the mysteries of hundreds of thousands of missing persons? Why this woman?
Really - I struggle to give it 1 star.
Operation Bullshine (1959)
Love it
As a massive fan of 50s & 60s British films, I love this one. Clearly directed by a man & stereotypical but, hey, it was 1959.
A simple humorous easy-to-watch film. In colour too !
Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001)
Highly edited !
Well after watchin this TV-film years ago, I've been waiting for the DVD. But I am so SO disappointed !! It has been edited such a lot. 25% is missing !
No "I Got Rhythm"/Busby Berkeley scene which was very important to the movie. As was the marriage to David Rose, the abortion and the marriage to Mark (who turned out to be gay). All that and much much more are missing from this DVD. Completely crazy! If you're gonna turn a masterpiece into a DVD then please include all the scenes it in its entirety ~ even if it means having 2 disks.
Yep ~ I was real disappointed in the DVD. I want the complete version and still hope that it will be produced. I luvved it all the same. Ha !
And, just a word to those of you who hav slagged off the film here... please .... see the performances for what they are.... brilliant! .... thy are not meant to be just impersonations. xx
