I Heart Huckabees (2004)
So Plato and Nietzsche were in a bar........
Nietzsche pointed to a glass and said "That glass is half empty" Plato looked at him. "What glass?"
I <3 huckabees, a look at existentialism in the modern world, and crazy enough it's a Comedy! A movie by David Russell, director of the "Three Kings", another wonderfully funny movie, starring Mark Wahlburg and George Clooney among others. This movie returns with Mark, adds such talents as Jude Law, Dustin Hoffman, and Jason Schwartzman to the mix, creating a movie that is fabulous in every area. With a great cast doing some great acting, to a great script, and with a great director to lead them, it makes well.... a great movie.
The plot revolves around a mans search for the answer for why he has run into a series of coincidences, and the relationships of the people he meets in his search for his answer to.......... everything.
This movie can be very philosophical, and as it gives various thoughts and ideas about existence, life, and reality as we know it, clashing ideological standpoints for nihilism, to unification, to religion, all meet and contradict in a well thought out and planned movie. The script, and story are......different then what most Hollywood blockbusters have created, making it a fresh new idea in the world of action movies, and romantic comedies.
Thought provoking, fun, a visual and mental joy ride, a movie to sit back and enjoy any time.
Le battement d'ailes du papillon (2000)
One of the Best Movies EVER!
REnted this one accidentally, it was behind the movie box of what i thought i was renting, didn't find out until i got home, watched it anyways. Absolutely FANTASTIC! a wonderful movie, and one of my top three favorite of all time, i recommend it to Everyone!
The story is enjoyable and easy to follow, this could have been easily messed up, but the actors and director do a great job of keeping it together.
The actors themselves are fantastic, displaying wonderful character and doing a terrific job.
Gotta find a copy somewhere...........
