OK, but could have been better.
6 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is based on Frank E. Peretti's book "The Hangman's Curse". I absolutely loved the book and when I found out that it had been made into a movie I watched it right away.

While it did have, of course, the same plot and characters, the movie was extremely different from the book. Some changes were very mild, but some were so far away from the original story that it was at times very hard for me to enjoy the film. (This may have been otherwise if I hadn't read the book.)

Another thing was simply the overall quality of the film's making and nothing to do with the story at all. Acting was at times good and very believable, but the majority of it was merely acceptable (if that) more than believable. The same could be said about the script of the movie.

I will say, though, that despite the changes, acting, and "overall quality", the morals to The Hangman's Curse film are extremely important and accurate. Especially important in today's society, involving kids, teens, and adults. The movie and book both bring out into plain view some of the toughest issues a lot of people have to endure and what it can, and does, often lead to.

For that reason I would highly recommend The Hangman's Curse to anyone but younger children. But if you are after a more spiritual, believable "version" with a scarier and more complicated twist, I would go after the book instead of the film.

Terrible!
16 October 2004
This was the worst I've ever seen. It was hard for me to just sit still in my seat, it was so lame.

Despite a temporarily funny picture of the gorilla (Zamora) in "human" clothing, she was so unrealistic both in appearance and behavior that it was impossible to get interested in the story.

As for the actors, Justin Berfield (Timmy Blair) did pretty well considering the poor script, but just about every other actor and their script was also impossible to buy. There was no apparent effort put into making the story and film realistic. The movie was poorly done, plain and simple.

This film could be described as very amateur and a waste of time.
