The Last Supper (1995)
Looked like a straight to video stinkeroo
A group of self-righteous liberals decide to start killing people who have beliefs different from their own. Their victims emerge from leftist central casting and are typical caricatures as viewed by their murderers. Apparently anyone who disagrees with their world view and doesn't repent during dinner deserves to die.
This just happened to be on HBO when I turned the channel and the description sounded interesting enough, and there were recognizable actors in it. Figured it might not be too bad.
The production values themselves seem relatively OK, its just the story and acting that is weak beyond belief. How they got any recognizable names into this stink fest is the real mystery here.
Last Night with Angel (2003)
Great film
This is a short film and was a really impressive effort by the writers and production team. The production values were outstanding and very good performances were drawn from the actors involved. I saw this film at a film festival in LA along with other shorts. I wish it was available on DVD, I'd buy it. Hope to see other films from these guys soon. The film is about what is important to people and not losing yourself in the quest for what you think your dreams are. Angel is someone who started out on one journey, ended up in an entirely different place due to the choices she made all the while thinking she was doing what she started off wanting, and her encounter with another person who had taken the same journey makes her rethink her priorities. A short film that makes you think.
Michael Moore Hates America (2004)
Awesome! Saw it in a packed showing at Liberty Film Festival
Awesome film. Mike has made a documentary not just on whether Michael Moore is honest or not, but also on the documentary making process itself. I was blown away by the quality of this film, and even though I have already seen it, I can't wait for the theatrical release to see it again. I saw it in a packed to the rooftops screening at the Liberty Film Festival in Los Angeles and the audience LOVED IT!
I was particularly impressed with the quality of the interview sources that Mike was able to utilize. Penn Jillette was worth the price of admission alone, but throw in Dinesh D'Souza, David Horowitz, and many more and it is truly impressive. Not to mention the appearances by Le Grande Frommage himself, Michael Moore.
Celsius 41.11: The Temperature at Which the Brain... Begins to Die (2004)
Well made documentary. Demolishes the anti Bush myths
Lionel Chetwynd made this film in slightly over 4 weeks. The quality of the film is very high in general but even more amazing considering the time available to him. The documentary examines the question of why there are the "Anyone But Bush" voters, what motivates them and what are the myths that keep getting perpetrated. It them examines these myths and sequentially demolishes them with facts. Also examines the philosophical differences between Bush and Kerry in regard to national security. Great interviews with Fred Thompson, Michael Medved (who knew Kerry in university) and others. Well worth seeing for the political junkie or people interested in the truth about Bush.
