OK To Kill Time
1 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The book was easily the weakest of the four novels, Betty Smith wrote. If you read the book you could see it was heavily edited. Smith said over 100 pages were taken out. This explains a lot of why the book plot jumps all over the place or the plot says things like "suddenly it was next summer." Smith writes good books but her stories are way too long and cover too much time to fit into a movie. So you wind up with horribly compressed messes that pale in comparison to the book.

The story was altered and the characters are presented in more or less a black and white sense than in the book where, as Smith does in all her novels, she is careful to show everyone is both bad and good

This movie was pretty bad, but if you want to kill some time, it won't make you sick :o)

Must See - Excellent
24 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This is a good movie if you're looking for a tale of love. The only thing that really ruins it is a MAJOR plot hole. The whole story revolves around the couple robbing a drug store to get meds for her Tourette's Syndrome. Why did they do this? You run out of meds you call your doctor and get a refill. Or better yet any pharmacy will call your doctor for you. It's not like the meds for Tourette's Syndrome are heroin or cocaine. If you have a prescription you get them. This is a HUGE plot hole. OK the robbery is necessary for dramatic tension but it is 100% unrealistic. Still if you can overlook this plot error it's an excellent movie about love. I still recommend it highly

Shirley Booth Rules!!!
4 September 2006
It's a shame Shirley Booth never got the high acclaim she deserved. She took a simple and somewhat uninspired script and made it work. The best thing about this movie is in the beginning you actually feel sorry for the Shirley Booth character, but the way Ms Booth plays the role by the end of the movie you get the feeling the character deserves what she got she is so pathetic. Nevertheless it is an excellent film SOLEY do to the outstanding acting ability of Shirley Booth. Other actors in the movie do an adequate job but it the interaction with Shirley Booth's character that makes them stand out. The cake seen is the highlight of film as her character descends into self pity

It wasn't that bad
16 April 2006
I like this short. OK guys one this is 100% wrong. You say Muriel Landers cannot sing. She has a great voice. She may not sing in a style you like but the woman could carry a tune.

"Let's Fall In Love" was a beautiful song when she sang it. And for being a plus sized woman she managed to pull of "The Heat Is On," OK too.

Again this wasn't a great short for the Stooges and you may have not liked it but Muriel COULD sing.

The Stooges were already canceled by the time the Besser shorts came out and Columbia was just playing out the product for every dime they could squeeze out of them.
