In Good Company (2004)
Irresistible fare.
Well, I can say that I was in good company while watching the movie. There is nothing outstanding about the movie, still it does possess an endearing quality which keeps one glued.
The screenplay is well written, quite witty on a few occasions. The direction is crisp and not over done. The scene where Dennis's character confronts Topher's character in the restaurant is brilliant.
The performances are like a perfect dessert, neither is it over the top nor is it below par. Topher Grace is definitely a surprise. Scarelett is interesting(though, not one of her better performances). Dennis Quaid is great as usual. But, the overall casting is pretty good and every actor seems to fit his/her character.
This is a great movie to watch when you need something to cheer you up. And, trust me, its not a run of the mill story..Has a very interesting ending which I think is its USP.
Unishe April (1994)
True sense of Indian Cinema
Well for starters, I do not comprehend Bengali..Still I was compelled to watch this national award winning epic..The story is simple, but layers of complexity in the lead characters is evident..Was just blown away by the performances of both Debashree Roy and Aparna Sen..the conversations between the mother-daughter is extremely well etched..There is an inherent freshness in the movie..mostly because of the splendid cinematography..
Unfortunately, India is associated with Bollywood..Maybe its time to check out the so-called parallel cinema movement in India..Unishi April is one such gem that you cannot refuse..
Good Will Hunting (1997)
A reflection of life..
Well..Much has been said and written about this fabulous movie..but the fact that every single person can relate to the movie is its USP..Not every one can be an achiever in life..or possibly come close to being one..But every one yearns to be a achiever..This movie conveys the message that "Its all in your mind.."..How many of us have scars engraved in our minds..It is up to the individual to get rid of these scars and try to achieve what he/she has set to out to do..This movie coveys this message to the core and that inspires me no end..Hats off to the director Gus Van Sant and Matt Damon & Ben Affleck for writing such an inspiring story..
