Beautification of Oppression
13 February 2023
The plot, the acting, the tone are all incredibly superficial. The series could be likened to a propoganda film of an oppressive regime. Sugarcoating the shortcomings of an antimodern regime is not helping the shallow story and the awkward tricks in the plot.

What is extremely funny is the 10s given as ratings. Of the Top 1000 viewers, the series got a 2.7 rating, which is very generous.

The genre is anyhing but a drama. I would call it a farce. I feel so sorry for the women depicted in the series as "free" as they are confined by dress codes, moral codes, behavioral codes etc. I firmly think that this kind of beautification of oppression should be critically viewed and.appropriately acclaimed.

A must watch

This is a wonderful series. I cannot wait for the second season . The actors' performance is absolutely amazing. The scrlpt is very well written. The locations where the series was shot is totally stunning. The script has some great lines that touch one's soul and make you ponder about one's own life. Overall, the series is worth watching and deserves a solid 8.

A FACTUAL HORROR STORY
18 June 2021
This is a film difficult to watch without feeling for the victims upon whom so much violence was inflicted. The film tells about factual and yet mostly unknown parts of. WW2 which happened on Croatian soil by some Croations who contributed to the Nazi crimes during the war. The scenes of merciless violence would shock anyone deeply. Still there are people tring to survive the terror giving us hope about humanity. All throughout the film, I pondered about the question of crime, punishment and justice. I wonder if any of the perpetrators were brought to justice and how they could live their lives after inflicting so much pain. I personally think the film honestly tried to shed some light into the darkness of a part of history: However, it had some flaws in script and I found it excessively deamatic at some scenes. The ratings given to the film are quite exaggerated for reasons I think I understand. Finally, I can say this is a decent film about human vice and virtue. It is totally worth watching.

Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020–2022)

Ottoman Empire
24 January 2020
I sincerely believe more and better films or series should come about Turkish history. Ottoman Rising has successfully tried to depict a certain period of Turkish history. The cinematography suits the demands of the plot quite well. The plot serves the probable goals of the director quite well. The soundtrack suitably adds to the artistic effect of the series. The acting is quite good; especially that of the Sultan Mehmet, the Conqueror. All in all, I would highly recommend this series for the lovers of history who are after a balanced and objective depiction of the past.

A Great Disillusionment
19 October 2019
Karakomik Filmler (2019) is a really terrible surprise for Cem Yilmaz fans. It falls short of any genuine comedy-full of stale and dirty jokes and tricks. The film comprises two parts-neither of which could be considered as well played. This is the first time nationally famous comedian and stand-up showman hugely disappointed me. I could almost assert that this is a bad movie for Yilmaz's career. Except maybe for Ayzek, all the other characters are nothing but shallow caricatures just like the plot itself. All in all, I would not recommend this film for real film lovers as it would be a complete waste of time.

Nobody is Innocent
30 January 2019
Innocent is truly a gem and it immediately succeeds in characters, scenes, twists etc. from the very beginning. It is a story gripping you initially and never letting you at the end of each episode. The script is totally convincing and intriguing and so is the cast. I really loved the tone and mood of the series. I believe one would enjoy the music too. The acting of great actor Haluk Yavuzer adds depths to the show. All in all, I would highly recommend this TV series to everyone looking for something new, genuine and captivating.

A fictive tribute to naivety of Turkish films in 1960s
27 January 2018
Arif v 216 is a bit of a back step considering the previous films AROG and GORA. Yet I firmly believe it achieves what it sought. The film is mainly about traveling back to 1960s and experience the naive sentimentality of those times through the lens of Turkish movies of that time. Thus, one could enjoy the luxury of meeting all the greats of Turkish cinema in 1960s as if one were in a parade. The directing of the film is quite satisfactory. The acting of the lead actors is also quite good. The plot flows quite smoothly, which makes the viewing very enjoyable. Technically speaking, the film was almost flawless. All in all, I could say that with all the reference to our nostalgia included, the film is absolutely a nice and easy watch. However, I cannot state that it is a great film. It is a good film worth watching and enjoying oneself.

A feminine look on the effects of wars in a historical fantasy.
3 February 2017
This film is a victim of a racist and smear campaign. The smear campaign was so successful that two mayors put a ban on this film! As for the film, I can say that as a comedy film it serves its genre quite well. The cast is great. The setting is unbelievably stunning. The music is great for Turkish music lovers. The script is quite balanced and hilarious at times. The acting is superb. There are some flaws in the script and the rhythm of the film but overall it was quite entertaining and satisfactory. I would give a well-deserved 7 over 10 to this film of Mahzun Kırmızıgül. The 3.7 given by the voters on IMDb is totally biased and unfair.
