Finally a decent spy film from mainstream Hollywood.
8 August 2022
It's been a while. I thought the pacing was alright, spycraft is a slow business isn't it? If you're after fantasy ahem I mean action watch Bond or Bourne.

This movie pays tribute to Le Carre's work: the succinct dialogue, delivered by a minimalistic Matt Damon. The cinematography is deliberately deceptive: there are moments in the film when you don't know the guy sitting behind is going to stab Wilson, or he is just an extra. Sometimes a look says a thousand words, but which words are truths?

I do have one complaint: the female characters are sorely underdeveloped and all walking cliches. Other than that I've enjoyed this film.

Realistic and honest

Badlandz didn't know what he was talking about. If he knew it's actually worse because oh yea we need another American to comment on the intricate and complicated societal Australian problems that were brilliantly reflected and acted in the series. I love the dialog, the emotional weight between the silences, the pauses, which is distinctly Australian; while some might prefer a 50 min drama filled with clever non- clichéd witty dialogue with Tom-Cruise-facial-contortion-style of acting, normally people don't act this way and I think it's the show's purpose to honestly and realistically portray the multi-facets of contemporary Aboriginal lives in Australia.
