Ready Player One (2018)

Ready player one (2018)
Plot: It takes place in future in Ohio Columbus where the entire society is living in virtual reality called "OASIS" created by genius Halliday and he left 3 keys in the game which will lead to the ultimate Easter egg and ownership of Oasis.
Cons: Even though aspiring visuals fail to register the characters among us, Protagonist Parzival's real world home life is typical orphan with abusive step family we have seen thousand times on screen and it given brief to time grasp, rebellion against corporate and debt workers also similar to fascist government antagonists (duh... star wars) in numerous movies. Another speed breaker for progress of the plot is relationship between Parzivel and Artimis which was predictable and tension of romance wasn't presented between the couple, but later their predictable choices lead to interesting sequences in the third act. Since the opening to exposition of this future world was more of telling rather than showing felt frustrating for the standard of Spielberg. Major disappointment was movie fail to show the reasons why the world choose to live in this virtual world and loose all their money and time on that fiction? Why they had to hide their real identity to express themselves? If these segments of events leading up to the current catharsis of mud we witness. Length of the movie is felt at the end of the movie when it drags for a happily ever after wrap up was unnecessary.
Pros: Steven Spielberg is the master of scene blocking, chase scenes, tracking shots and framing particular setup to move around his character to create illusion of depth and elements of gradual accumulation for an ultimate revealing, after the less enthusiastic BFG and Post Spielberg dashes through his masterful direction. Technical mastery of the visual effects will leave you in an awe and massive hoards of characters from 80s movies/TV shows and music videos moves in and out of frames without creating any distraction to the audience and teasing their inner child with correct amount of nostalgia feel. Gratefully movie does not rely on the nostalgia feel it carries and arguably this is most nerdiest movie ever made and this success is to be thanked by Deadpool, stranger things and IT. In a particular scene we are shown kid who kick boxing and fat lady pole dancing while Parzivel walking to his trailer to play Oasis, this tracking scene left a feeling of need more of this clever cinematography on more scenes, thank fully under the command of Spielberg he was able to pull off balanced popcorn movie and exquisite action/chase blocks.
Conclusion: Visual spectacle of virtual reality OASIS one must be experienced in 3D.
Verdict: A solid B+ (7.5/10)
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
Unimpressive disappointing silly sequel
First of all following up the kingsman secret service required much more compelling script and expansion of its world but creators decided to take such a nose dive towards cannibalism and ridiculous tracking shots with uninteresting characters on board.
Certain deaths and unfold of secrets does not have any emotional weight to it and it feels like rushed for the sake of having a run time over 100 mins which could have been perfect. Directors decision to shoot 90% of fight sequence through tracking shot is nauseating decision for the viewer and over the top killing mostly expected in such genre films but here its inconceivable.
Even though most of the part of the movie is passable plot lines certain portions of the movie was interesting like Colin firth's return to kingsman and statesman and their environment.
But overall its silly sequel to strong predecessor which could kill the possible franchise material.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (2018)
Delightful Roller Coaster Ride
First of all Director and writer Vignesh Sivan decided to make his own version of script based on the infamous Opera house heist in 1987, therefore it is vary from the original Special 26 and the proper way to adapt a successful movie to another region.
A Remake to exist there have to be creative reasons to be showcased on and TSK does that with ease eventhough many Special 26 fans may get disappointed about the choices made on this TSK script I gladly accept those changes rather having to witness scene by scene adaptation which would look more like a Dubbed version of the original film.
The movie work with many tones and managed to entertain all kind of audience with its subtle acting of the lead actor and other supporting characters. Casting was exceptional and the way those characters written is refreshing to care about them rather than being obsolete burdens. Director have played with audiences predictions by luring them into cliched act of scene then turning the table onto them. Cinematography and editing gives a richness to the film.
It is definitely not a flawless movies, major issue would be since the movie written in a way that none of serious sequences and its consequences not created an impact as it supposed to be because it followed by comical relief. there are sub plots diluting the core theme of the movie and incomplete at the end and movie claims to be set on 1987 but since the cinematography goes for rich and vibrant colorful frames art work, costumes and look of the characters could have been in line with 80s style and feel.
Overall its an enjoyable roller coaster ride to be delighted and entertained throughout the run time. Its very refreshing to Surya on such fun filled role and its a cakewalk for him to this simple role.
Castle: Crossfire (2016)
Messy finale for a dynamic show and characters
First of all season 7 finale was a better ending for Castle and gave good conclusion for all the major characters.
The problem started with the last season's Castle disappearance and found in CIA covert mission plot. The choice made by the writers of the season was very strange for Castle and exploiting that plot line and extending to season 8 gave some moments but overall disappointed with the writing.
Due to this major downfall finale of the Series is rushed and incomplete. Sad to see such intelligent and charming characters had such unjustified ending.
Except the last 30 seconds of jammed conclusion of Caskett nothing of this hot mess of last episode offered anything to die hard fans of this show .
The creators must have stopped with the Season 7 finale which is more fitting farewell to Castle cast and appropriate conclusion to the Caskett fans.
Locke (2013)
Simple plot delivered with compelling performance by Tom Hardy
Movie opens up with a construction site and labors are going off to home as usual, but one man expressing an enormous level of stress and inner struggle to stick to his routine life because of the mistake he committed in the past. This movie takes us ONLY through his character
This moment may become the last day of his beliefs and the things he built and worked for . As we expect, things go south, still it's interesting and compelling through out the run time of 100 minutes. Surprisingly this movie in every single scene happening within a contained environment and yet I was totally invested in Ivan Locke( Tom Hardy) and cared for the emotions of the characters over the phone .A big round of applause to the Writer/Director Steven Knight for delivering such emotional drama/thriller only by showcasing ONE character. Tom Hardy hits home-run in delivering the compelling performance on every single turns and flows Ivan Locke went through in the script which exceptional from an action hero. One of the biggest strengths to this movie was the BGM score from the first shot to till last shot BGM keeps us with Ivan Locke as he takes time to think, moan, cry or out burst we feel it from inside with the character. The only issue would be movie takes its time to grab our attention i:e: I was bit looking at the phone and assumed its going to bore me but once movie seize your attention we get lost into it for next 60+ minutes. This movie reminded me of "Buried" starring Ryan Reynolds within the same genre but for me it was better movie. Kudos to the team for delivering such engaging movie with a simpler plot line which will take two or three days to digest the impact it made within us. One more positive would be the cinematography and the slick editing made this much more stylizing movie. Overall every movie goers run to the store, buy a Blu-ray to get this in your collection.
American History X (1998)
Epic Crime Drama !!
The film starts with the different journal and ends in a unexpected but extraordinary conclusion to the film. First of all Why Edward Norton did not win the Oscar for his outstanding performance?? Further Edward Furlong almost there to be called as best performance....! The research that writer made for this film is amazing ..! You just have concentrate in few dialogues that was like Out of the world !! Screenplay very well scripted and such a wonderful use of Slow motion shots !!
As a whole The best from Tony Kaye and David McKenna !! I don't like drama kind of films but American History X wont disappoint you .....!! I actually TOO Impressed with Edward Norton ........!! He makes his way to ma all time favourites <3
