Santa (2014)
Good Title, intriguing plot, static scenes, revisable soundtrack, nevertheless many thanks for trial.
Joint Lithuanian-Finish project came into screens starting 2014. Not sure, but probably this is a first or at least very rare modern Lithuanian-Finish film makers cooperation. As local anticipation level of the movie was pretty high it's hard to get rid of some expectations
and this time they were little higher. To tell the screen story of 1.30 hours length with I would say very ambitious and profound plot is really brave step for the director who has just started his career in directing full screen movies. The title of the movie in general is not the something cornerstone in overall estimation though good and decent ones makes fine accord. In our case the "Santa" is nice shot. . Creator's aspirations to reveal complexity of single mother her 7 years old son- and "Santa's" psychological and cultural-ethnic relationship triangular, requires something more than presence of finish star Korpela, at times unnatural dialogs involving tragic fate child Vincas and pretty static scenes that clearly lacks interrelation. A few words about soundtrack
.it looks like there was a big trial to make a strong emphasis on it. No doubt it's notable, however a little bit chaotic and somehow does not correspond to the storyline sentiment.
La vie d'Adèle (2013)
Some like it honest
After the three hours in the cinema it's hard to get rid of the feeling that new barriers are set for intimacy and warmest sincerity. At times you may little be disturbed what places first film makers: a super intimate and close study in shaping and formation of young female personalities , or just unbiased tender reflection of Adele's and Emma's inside-out journeys to themselves and to each other, or maybe it's just love story
Whatever it is, no doubt, the movie covers more than these. Emotionally it has so strong load thanks to all: directing, superb acting, precise and very attentive camera work, and of course still so delicate homosexuality theme. Worth noting quality is that large age scale audience might find different layers in it. Would dare to say that youth starting 12-14 years may see it, as film represents so high level of honesty and sincerity, and for some more homophobic societies it may serve as educational device.
