Showtrial (2021)
Waste of time!
While first and second episodes were quite dramatic,it started to drag on from the third one,and culminated with the last episode open ending. Instead of great finale,an explanation that today ever crime tv series has,you have a verdict that is hanging by a thread, and nothing new is revealed in the last two episodes. There is certainly a budget for this series, decent actors, nice locations, but characters(exvept Talitha and her female lawyer) are poorly developped. Series fails to score a goal: it is left unfinished, and you are left wondering: did they leave the open ending because they could not come with plausible story behind the murder. So,so,sad,a lot of potential wasted...
Heroji Halijarda (2023)
Epic drama about serbian resistance movement
This movie has left me speechless-an epic story of Serbian resistance movement in WW2 that fought both evil empires of nazism and communism and payed a very heavy price. What adds to the value,is that it is a true event that takes place in 1944,during the final stages of ww2 in Serbia, and the final push of communists supported by Soviets to occupy it. The movie is not one-sided and even portraits one the brothers that joins the communists in quite a positive light.
Very little is known about this historical event, and it is great to see how effort of a small Serbian nation helped the Allied cause, by airlifting the rescued brittish and american pilots to safety.
Catch a Fire (2006)
good movie about how to become a terrorist
First of all,it is great movie, because you can see how a young african immigrant man from Mozambique, with what looks like a perfect life, changes his views slowly and becomes a terrorist, ruining his life, his family and friends' life, for an deology. It also shows how ideology(communist,fascist....) can brainwash people, making them make real or imaginery enemy unhuman and make them just think about killing them(woman and children alike,as seen in the movie). Hapily, the days of red brigades, alkaida and anc are forever gone, because whatever the reason, planting bombs makes you a terrorist, not a hero....
Two and a Half Men (2003)
Don't watch from season 9!!!
The funniest tv series I have watched, turned into a horror on season 9, where the producers decided to kill Charlie Harper, replacing him (kind of) with terrible Ashton Kutcher. If you had a family loss, or at best, broke with the love of your life, or went through a divorce, you will probably feel something similar. There are great movies with bad ending, but this.... I don't know what Charlie Sheen said or done to the director(or whoever) of the show, probably some bad things, but to disgrace even a memory of Charlie Harper is disgusting. After that, you expect that Charlie will pop up alive and well, and when you google it and find that this is really the end, you are in disbelief.... Not only that I couldn't watch another episode of the show, because it becomes awefull and full of references of dead Charlie, but it spoiled even the episode I have watched before.
I would rather watch a horror movie than the episode where Charlie is found to be dead.
La meglio gioventù (2003)
Really fantastic, and I have only watched the first part...
It is a movie unlike anything I have seen before-something that started as carefree story of two young student brothers and their summer adventures, turns into a really epic drama depicting all the important events in italian history. The dolce vita, the floods, the communist red brigades-it is all there, but the focus is still,as it should be,on the people themselves. The main characters and their friends and relatives really give you hope in humanity, love and loyalty-things missing so much from movies of today. It is a perfect ten for the first three hours watched,I will sure go back once the other three are finished.
Island Hunters (2013)
Stunning scenery!
I have watched every episode since this TV show started only local cable provider, and every one of these were very exciting. You can really immerse in the island universe, even start to participate what kind of island people want when you first see them. Even watching the white sands of Belize or pine forests of Georgian Bay makes you one wish that one day, you might find yourself in a situation where your biggest trouble is...which island will you choose!
Chris Krolow is by far the best presenter here, and it would be perfect ten if he stayed with this show.
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Not really bad,but definitely not a good movie
This is not a bad movie, but doesn't excel either. Denzel is a mediocre actor in general, and doen't act very well here. Liev Schreiber is a weak one in general, and terrible in this movie. The movie is unrealistic in many points, and grows gradually worse as time pass. There is some suspense and mystery at the begining, but it all disapears and become predictable when brain control stuff begins.
Not sure why some people give it high rates,Born series is much much better if you like conspiracy theories genre.
Otel «Belgrad» (2020)
Last Bikovic's movie I was tricked to watch...
There is an priverb:"Shame on you if you trick me once, shame on me if you trick me twice". Shame on people who made South Wind 2 movie, and shame on me for watching another Bikovic movie,Hotel Belgrade.
There isn't a funny moment in this movie, and it is advertised as comedy. There are famous actors, but their acting is FAKE. And why,why...villagers are again depicted as if they come from Borat's Kazahstan-except Borat is funny. Terrible movie, terrible acting. The movie is called Hotel Belgrade, but nothing in the movie has to do with hotel Belgrade. It could be named Danube,Serbia,Wedding or any other name. Something is seriously wrong with Bikovic movies these days. If you are not a girl who has his posters in her teenage room, avoid at all costs....
Blok 27 (2022)
Terrible ending,spoils everything!
This series has 6 episodes, and until the last episode, it has been a dark, gothic thriller, in the last episode- a slasher movie, with blood, guts and unmorphed sleazy alien life form, levitating dead children and pale undead children. The series has serious problems with voice, sometimes what characters speak is unrecognizable. The only good episode is episode 5, where it goes back in time and explains what lead to current events.
Like a lot of tv series, crew either got short of time or money, and made a mess of the last episode. That is why I am giving it a one star. If there wasn't the last episode, it would have been 7 or even 8.
Nek ide zivot (2019)
Never watched a better show
I am not sure how I run into this tv series I haven't heard about at all,but I was astonished how good it was,and next two da watched 6 episodes. It is simply the best serbian comedy series I watched,au pair with "Only fools & Horses". The story simpyl glides, dialogues are really funny, and actors are great. It can be a bit provocative, sexy and sometimes not politically correct, but depicts the current times and modes of behaviour. Perfect ten because it made me laugh so much.
Michael Kohlhaas (2013)
Poor man's Lionheart
Unfortunately, just like Germans seem to be unable to make a decent song,Russians unable to make a car,French can't make a decent movie. Everything is there:centuries-old story,a novel, great leading actor,budget...and yet,the movie simply didn't make it. I will mostly attribute it to french movies tendency to overcomplicate rather simple things, and put too much vague philosophy where it shouldn't be placed.
The story being similar to Lionheart, fails miserably to develop the main character as I wonder if I am watching the same avenger from the begining of the movie. The movie is really not profiled, you can feel that something is missing. Some of the actions of main characters are simply unexplainable, and sometimes the movie begins to be really painfully slow.
Mad hasn't been able to help this movie to get alive,so maybe he should choose his roles more carefull next time.
Den blomstertid nu kommer (2018)
Two movies inside one
This movie has left me speechles, and I have discussed it for whole day. It is two movies in one:catastrophy movie and family drama. Both are perfectly scripted, and each one adds to other.
The gloomy atmosphere of being attacked by unknown force is probably close what people felt during events such as Chernobyl or WTC attacks. It reminds me of Russian TV series Outpost I have watched recently.
Another aspect of a movie us a family drama. Every character is right, and yet, they can not get together in the most simplest form. And after some tragic events, who is to blame? What if I did this,or that...the questions echo until the very end.
To me,this is a masterpiece worth watching and discovering its subleties one by one.
Official Secrets (2019)
great political thriller!
The movie is great, simply said. It stays like that throughout the whole movie, the ending is in line with the rest. No plot holes there, and since it is based on true events,I expected the movie to be biased toward or against the main character. But it is not. It leaves to the viewer to decide whether Katherine has done the right thing. And that is the main strength of the movie, that everyone has to decide whether she is a traitor who naively endangered her country and the free world,or a martyr who tried to save people's lives...You want to know what my opinion is?
Juzni vetar 2: Ubrzanje (2021)
Waste of time and money!
Worst movie this year, and just to think that they show this movie in cinemas....is insulting the intelligence. It should be rated 12-, because everyone older than 12 should find bad acting, poor scenario, plot holes, unrealistic events.
In the whole movie, not once have I sensed suspense or thrill. Bikovic is acting very bad, even Radonjic who used to be very entertaining, only curses and is a caricature of himself in previous movie. Female characters? Non-existent! Only good actor is Bercek, but his role is so tiny and plot around him unrealistic that it can be disregarded.
I honestly don't know why they made such a low-level movie at all, because all the chances that most of the people will watch a sequel of it are...miniscule.
And yes, the Bulgarians...I, like most of the Serbs, are not very fond of them for historical reasons, but the way they are depicted in this movie is simply awful- as a bunch of gypsy-junky-tribal folks that came either from Wrong Turn movie or Borat's Kazakhstan. The same goes for Serbian villagers from East Serbia.
Plot is so full of holes, and some scenes that has no relation to anything else, like visit to Croatia, are totally out of context.
You will thank me for saving your money & time if you don't watch this...recording...
The Grey (2011)
It is a movie about men,not wolves
In my opinio, the crash in wilderness is just a wrapper around a story if people, their fears, weaknesses, lives and...deaths. Some scenes are not realistic, but this is compensated by other elements of the movie. The story is not predictable, and it keeps you fixed to your seat from the very beginning. I have watched it few times, which I usually don't do,and every time I find some new things that I did not notice before.
Black Sea (2014)
Strong character development
Definitely best movie I have watched this month! The scenario(searching for lost treasure) is good in its own right, but this movie excells at another area: human psychology and behaviour. Jude Law is great in his role, and other characters are realistic as well. The main strength of the movie is portraying how a group of mostly unrelated people come together to fight the obstacles...or don't?
Unlike good part of movies that fall apart athe end, this one doesn't-it keeps you seated untill the very last second. And I guess you will discuss the movie after it has ended, which is additional value. Good job, submariners!
State of Play (2009)
Pathetic ending of an average movie
The movie starts great, becomes average and fails miserably at the end. Not only it is unrealistic, but it is a full of cliches-maverick journalist played by Russel Crow, his novice female assistant, female boss, angry war veteran.... But it would have been digestible, it there wasn't for the end! There is a twist at the end,but the movie fails to exploit it,and there is no "awesome, how didn't we think of it before?" moment. Crow is simply not realistic, and Affleck is not really defined as a character. Other actors are artificial, overacting to the point that they look like dolls.
Training Day (2001)
Should be called "Ruining day"
I have watched movies that start great, and from some point, simply falls apart. But this movie has brought it to extreme-seems like that the last third of a movie is totally out of context. While the first part catches imagination, paints a vivid picture of criminal and police underground, the last part is an empty cliche of good cop-bad cop contrast. Wasted an evening,to say at least, and still not beleiving that somebody can ruin such a good start.
Only the Brave (2017)
Best movie I watched this year!
Please don't get me wrong: I have watched a lot of awesome movies this year, and I am not looking to play them down. But this movie.... I has kept me from going to get some snacks, and when I went outside in the middle of the movies, I shortened my stay outside, just that I can return and watch the rest.
Contrary to 90% of the movies, where it starts great and falls apart or looses its pace towards the end, every part of this movie has the same quality: the introduction, the main part and the finale.
The true quality of this movie, in my opinion, is showing how much strain, effort and yes, lives, are needed so that majority of people can have things that are sometimes taken for granted.
And the people that perform these tasks often must choose between their personal lives and families, and their duty. And it is always a difficult choice...
L'uomo perfetto (2005)
Those men might not be perfect, but the movie really is!
I restrain myself as much as I can from watching romantic movie, but I was forced by my better half to start watching it. And I loved it! It has that special italian dolce vita taste, and all through the movie, you adore the way character walk, talk, do simple things. Not only is italian language a music to the ears, but everybody wear fantastic clothes and behaves cool. I was amazed that such movies even exist, because in every detail, every second of the movie, you see the life as it should be-love in the center of life!
I have to go away now, to look for other movies from the same director, with the same actors...:)
Igra sudbine (2020)
Solid family TV series that can put your mind at rest
It is not, as some reviewers say, worst of the worst, but it sure doesn't excel in everything. But it is one of the really few "Bolji Zivot"-type TV series that is left. It should be taken as it is- a shallow, drama-free latin series in serbian. I watch every second episode (if I have to), but when I see either Ada Kanacki(Milica Milsa) or Una, I go to another room and don't come back for at least an hour. I think they have really ruined the series with bad acting and unnecessary facial expressions.
But there are also absolutely fabulous characters:
1-Panceta, because every sentence is full of humor and she represents a lifelike character
2-Mila, because she is played by an extra terrestrially beautiful actress
3-Bajo, because I laugh to death whenever he says something about his home area
4-Dijana Erski, because in her every move, you can see that she is a classy actress
Other characters and actors fall between these two categories.
12 reci (2020)
Great show!
There may be a thing or two that prevent me from rating this series with 10, but it doesn't prevent me from really enjoying it and waiting for the next episode.
I really liked Tihomir Stanic and Petar Novakovic acting here, but Viktor Savic, although a main character, seems a bit vague, which is a shame.
Characters are well-developped and this is one of the strongest point of this series. It is a story of violent times, yet there is no "artificial" violence and strong words as we can see in some other serbian crime series.
Klan (2020)
Sorry, but this is amateur work that should not be released on TV
Really bad and unwatchable, from the first scene in the graveyard. Maybe I had great expectations because I was recently watching similar crime TV-series, but this is not how TV series is made. It looks like a bunch high-school kids got together with cameras and decided to film their first movie. Save your time...
Nemanjici: Radjanje kraljevine (2018)
Serbian Games of Thones
Communist Yugoslavia was a poor communist country, with most of the movies glorifying WW2 battles and communist victories, and there was really little space for historical movies other than those WW2 battle. Most of the time, these were just a communist propaganda, with little connection to historical truth.
It is really a refreshment to see a series like Nemanjici, which shows how a historical movie should be made. All the complexities of dealing with the Romans,Venetians,Hungarians, as well as quarells among brothers are well shown. I can't wait to see the second episode, and introduction of other great actors such as Nebojsa Glogovac and Vojislav Cetkovic. Serbian past has virtually hundreds of motives for great series like this, and I hope more historical movies and series will follow.
Montevideo, vidimo se! (2014)
Excellent movie
I watched the first movie few years ago and it was a great experience. I grew up in a strict communist country, where even a mere mention that something great was archived by it's predecessor (the European-oriented and democratic Kingdom of Yugoslavia) was forbidden. When I first heard that Yugoslavian football team won bronze medal back in 1930, I thought that somebody was being over-patriotic because I never heard of such event. Luckily I was wrong. The story begins with Yugoslav football team, comprised of Serbs from Belgrade teams, going on sea voyage to Montevideo, to the first ever football championship of the wold, follows their (mis)adventures in the city of Montevideo and matches they participated. There are three characters that made the movie great: Paco is a Croat from Herzegovina that lives in Montevideo. At the beginning, he is very cold and cynical towards the Serbs, but slowly that attitude changes, and there are many warm moments in the movie that makes a viewer believe that those two nations can settle their difference and be nice to each other. He is played by seasoned actor Branko Đurić, one of the best in former Yugoslavia. His acting is a pure 10, and without him, the movie wouldn't be half as good as it is. Petar Strugar plays Moa, player that has swinging moods and somewhere in the middle of the movie, looses his self confidence, which affects his football performance. He regains it in the most touching scene of the movie, among the children with leprosy.I hope to see Strugar in more movies, because he has a charisma and the looks of arko Lauević,who lost to a world of acting by a tragic event back in the 90s. Armand Assante plays Hotchkins, a football manager that came to Montevideo in pursuit of fresh cannon fodder for his travelling football circus. His machination almost make the Yugoslav football team crumble. His role is played magnificently, and even though he is as sleazy as a manager can be, I was able to understand his ways and ever look at him as almost a positive character.Great actor and great play! One more thing:the director of this movie is Dragan Bjelogrlić,and he is an actor as well.I dislike him as actor, but his director's opus is great! Hope he produces more movies like this because this is one of the rare sequels that is better than the original movies. All four thumbs up!
