Death of Me (2020)
Obviously too high brow for some!
I thought this film was fantastic , even quite harrowing to be fair. It had me hooked from the start. I don't understand the poor reviews.
Think about it...everyone has these fears at some point on their holiday - losing or forgetting your passports, no? Being trapped and unable to get home? Frustration at not being able to communicate...
I've travelled in Thailand and it is a beautiful, wonderful place but if you don't speak the language or understand the beliefs of the people, (anywhere you go in fact) it can be a little scary. Who can you trust?
This film is terrifying and it does have a story and it does have a conclusion, I just think some people just didn't pay it enough attention.
Suspend your belief in what you think is reality and be entertained.
After Midnight (2019)
Diamond in the rough
Way too many 'professional' critics on here. I appreciate this isn't everyone's cup of tea but please stop over analysing everything.
The acting was superb, the story was unusual & the romance was unexpected and understated. Lose yourself, enjoy the excellent atmospheric and curious 'slow burn' of a story. Enjoy or simply turn it off!
Ingenium (2018)
Fantastic
Ignore the haters. Ingenium is ingenious. The acting is fantastic, so I have no idea which movie some were watching!
I was gripped from the start. Just watch, enjoy & don't think too hard.
Final Girl (2015)
A decent dark film. Don't criticise just enjoy!
Watch it and be entertained. Fantastic to have a strong female for a change. Don't look for perfection or answers to questions, just accept this film for the escapism it provides.
The acting is great, the premise for the story is good. A decent dark film with some comeuppance for psychopaths.
Loving the Hunger Games reference from Cato/Jameson.
Gothika (2003)
A superb ghost story that keeps you in suspense throughout.
This is a fantastic film with great acting and direction. Halle Berry is genuinely believable in her role as a terrified criminal psychologist accused of a murder she cannot recall. The asylum setting is creepy and the story haunting, evoking every nightmare you've ever had. Visual effects in the film are harrowing and realistic. I couldn't wait to find out how it turned out but didn't want it to end. It's a long time since I've seen a horror that stayed with me afterwards. Don't over analyse or compare this movie. Accept it as a scarily entertaining film and one of the best genuine horrors around at the moment.
