Wolf Pack (2023)
The line at my DMV moves faster than this show!!
I agree with the reviews here that the show is painfully slow. Pick up the pace already, this is the 21st century, people are impatient. It doesn't make a difference if you're ordering food, traveling or waiting for a email, people want things yesterday, so there is no way people are going to sit through this much longer. The writing is not that good. The one thing that really bothers me though is the obvious air brushing of Luna's face!! At first I was impressed with what I thought was the acne on that Blake "had". I thought, thank you!! A teenager with acne!! As it turns out it was just make up. Then started to notice Luna's odd look, as I kept watching the show, (believe me that in and of itself was a challenge). I noticed how odd she looked. I realized that her face is airbrushed, I mean not a single pore in sight. I find this very distracting. I think that I am focused on this because of the pedestrian writing. They need to do better!! One of the shows that I really enjoy is Nancy Drew, when I found out that this season will be its last I was hoping to find a nice replacement. It does not seem like this show is it. Love seeing Sarah Michelle back on tv (that's the 2 star rating).. She deserves better than this.
Lucifer: Pin the Tail on the Daddy (2021)
It seems likePost Production even gave up on the Show!
I read all the reviews, and I have to wonder why no one mentioned the obvious VFX issue! How did this episode air with that glaring error!
When Dan is leaving Lucifer's apt., he is yelling at Maze, because he thinks she can't hear of see him. When Dan walks to the elevator, you briefly see a duplicate image of a portion of Dan's hair and the elevator frame cuts into Dan's body, because this portion is a key, so it appears that Dan passes through the elevator door.. This is a tell - tell sign of an extremely bad key. How no one saw this in post, is beyond me. Like so many shows that have finished, this one is another example of everyone just giving up. This series finale should have been epic, instead it was boring, confusing, and in most cases pointless, did we really need Adam or Rory for that matter ?
Shameless: Two at a Biker Bar, One in the Lake (2021)
Were we watching the same episode?!
I have to agree with @suzasailor, some you definitely drank the Kool-Aid. This was bad, very, very bad. I was rooting for this last season hoping that it would go back to its glory days, boy was I disappointed. Kev's story was horrendous, too dumb for even him. I was hoping that V & Kev would finally be able to marry. I wanted Kev's estranged wife to finally make an appearance ( I was actually wanted Steve's wife, soon to be ex-wife Sarah Shahi to play the estranged wife). Debby & Sandy WTF!! She's married AND has a kid!!!, why even bother. It was ashame that this was nothing more than another lesbian story that wasn't going anywhere. I wanted Sandy to be the proverbial anchor for Debbie and help her grow as a individual, but no. It appears that Sandy was there just to give Debbie some pointless story arc, as it seems that Sandy is gone after the next episode. That's too bad because I like Sandy. Carl, well nothing needs to said about him, other than wash, rinse, repeat. Lip & Tami snooze fest. Mickey & Ian are being the comic relief for the show. There is not enough of Frank and his dementia which would be a perfect story plot because he can't con his way out of this, it would be the ultimate Karma for him. Liam is by far my favorite, who knew that after nearly 11 years, it's Liam that want to see succeed, he is the heart of this screwed up family, he deserves better.
Batwoman: Prior Criminal History (2021)
Could there be a light at the end of the bat tunnel???
So this wasn't bad. Ryan is a HUGE improvement over Kate, both character and actress. Ryan has a lot more personality and goofiness. It was also refreshing to see Nicole Kang's character, Mary not be so damn annoying. It also looks like they've, for the moment, toned down Alice & Jacob character's, enough with the scene chewing!! The underlying story with Safiyah, Alice, & Pennyworth, could actually be interesting, the whole, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I'll be watching the next few episodes to see if the writing keeps improving. I think considering where this show started last year, and the episode today, there could be a slight glimmer of hope.
Batwoman: What Happened to Kate Kane? (2021)
Wash, Rinse, Repeat!!
The problem with the show is the writing, no creativity at all. It appears as though the producers wanted a show to feature a lesbian super hero, which is great! The one thing they forgot was to write great stories. The first season featured an actress in the title roll who, quite frankly can't act, she was about as interesting as a glass of water. Please don't think I don't like Rose, she simply in not a good actress, that doesn't mean that at sometime the future she won't become accomplished like Streep, Kidman, Bullock, King, etc. I believe that casting Rose was the first mistake, as bad as she was, and most of the rest of the cast for that matter, Skarsten & Scott seemed over the top in their scenes.
Season 2 is no better, writing, writing ,writing, this is what drives a show, most people can overlook mediocre acting, as long as the stories are compelling, this show, however has none of that. Can this show recover?! Quite honestly it's doubtful.
Shameless: Frances Francis Franny Frank (2020)
Frank? Maybe Dementia
I found it interesting that no one mentioned Frank's memory lapse when he was with Francis. The scene with Francis showed Frank lost and somewhat confused . To me it showed the earlier signs of dementia, which, could be a major story plot for Frank. It will be interesting to see if the writers develop this any further
Columbo: Murder, A Self Portrait (1989)
Hello, misogyny, it's me.....
Wow, this was one of the most distasteful episodes ever! If I were an artist I would be appalled! This episode turns to the lowest, condescending, sexist stereotypes ever! I can't believe this episode was ever approved. As for the character Barsisni barking orders for the women in his life to and cook, clean his clothes, and to be at this beck and call, is ridiculous even for 1989. I think this speaks to the culture of the time in regards how women were treated even in Hollywood.
Mission: Impossible: The Killer (1988)
Deja Vu all over again
I was excited to hear the MI was coming back. I loved that show as a kid, and remember Steve Hill as the first lead agent. However, when I saw this, I was so disappointed. This is a remake of season 5 episode 1, The Killer staring Robert Conrad. There was absolutely nothing original, it has the exact same title! Given that approximately 18 years had past between these 2 episodes, I felt that they could have come up with something more original, something that would have used the technology of its time in the late 1980's. The original series had more gee whiz gadgetry back then, so I don't know why they went with this as the reboot. The one thing about the original that I think hastened its demise was the movement way from international espionage to mob oriented shows, while I did enjoy some of them, by middle of the 5th series to the end, the show, for me lost some of its luster. This episode did not make me feel confident that the show would be another hit.
Mission: Impossible: Odds on Evil (1966)
Cinnamon "Badass" Carter!
I think this the only episode in the entire 7 years that the female agent kick some serious but. Seeing Cinnamon ( I know it's male stunt double) take out a killer while wearing high heels, full length gown AND a full length fur coat loaded with 1.5 million dollars was, awesome! That made me give this episode an extra 2 stars!
Girl Power!!!
Mission: Impossible: The Ransom (1966)
So do people know what Briggs does for a living?
This is a very interesting episode for me. I always thought that no outsider knew what the team actual did. When the agents were picked from their portfolios, it appeared that they had cover jobs. Cinnamon was a famous model, Rollin seemed to be a famous actor / impersonator, etc. So I was confused when it seems that in this episode, Egan knows what Briggs does, in fact when Briggs tricked Egan into thinking that Augie was in the phone booth, he makes it very clear that if Egan does anything the the girl, Briggs will finish him, Briggs goes so far as to say, "no matter where you are I find you and I'll kill you, and you I can do it."
I enjoyed this episode very much, I just find it a curious that Egan knows all about Briggs and his team.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Quite simply on of the greatest movies of the 20th century!
One of my favorite scenes in the movie was the ending, as Red was riding on the bus to meet his friend, Andy. Morgan's voice over was beautiful, and mesmerizing. When talks about his excitement of seeing Andy, "the excitement that only a free man can have" had some many layers, it always makes me cry. The cast was perfect on all fronts.
