Poor Things (2023)
Brilliant
It's absolutely crazily brilliant. There is some kinda comic-book style, with a Dalìnian touch. A dark vision that grasp you in the guts till the end.
The movie is almost a modern Frankenstein, with a unique picture, set in an alternative parallele surreal world in the early XX century, definitely picture perfect and breathtaking.
Two hour and half... and don't even notice, it's
worth-watching just for the costumes and scenography.
A tell tale that make you wonder about the human been, it's carnal elementary impulses, and it's development into an evolved, beautiful....and almost scary creature.
Poker Face (2023)
Brilliant and unique
A one-of-a-kind, unique character is on screen like a new Columbo in a serie that's funny, cynical, and original, with an 80's style. Natasha Lyonne Is outstanding performing Charlie Cale, a determinate, wild, modern woman with a wasted cleverness and a distinctive unbelievable gift, that find herself involved in a murder at every step, and can't help but investigate. She's a lone wolf apparently living a simple life with no ambitions, that maybe with a little too much naivety got herself in trouble, and start journey across USA. Thrilling one-stand episodes that show the darkest and genuine side of America.
A Must watch.
The Riot Club (2014)
Raw
A raw and brutal, an even "might be a true story" movie, that leaves you wonder about the spoiled too young and too stupid bright minds of the rich upper class, hungry for insanity, starving to excess, that thinks everything is permitted, teaches you that also the worst atrocity can goes unpunished.
Out of ten there is some justice that at least spare one of them, guilty only for literally doing nothing. After all, even that can be a fault.
He will pay more than the culprits, because he'll have to deal with is conscience.
Anyway...who does need a conscience when got money that can pay you all?
Itaewon Keullasseu (2020)
The price of revenge
In the guise of a stereotyped k-drama, a brilliant bitter sweet man in search of a much cold, rational and calculated revenge, became an anthem to strong passions, friendship and love that all can win.
Shameless (2011)
Brutally unmissable
Iconic, unmissable, cynical, satirical without mercy. Love it or hate it, as soon as you start to watch it, South Side will became like a new home. Not meant for all, only the ones with a strong stomach will get through all the 11 seasons, missing all the characters lost along the way, until the saddest goodbye.
Euphoria (2019)
A cynic glance to generation Z
A sad gaze to the zoomer cohort, embracing and showing all the scary and most deep side of been a teen in the 21th century. A tall tale romance-drama, in the awareness that this might not be so far from the grim reality of the new generations lifestyle.
Bridgerton (2020)
Nice attempt
Politically correct frivoulous soap opera with a modern touch, in a Marie Antoinette and Great Gatsby fusion. A XIX version of Gossip Girl. Just more boring, actually, in it's attempt of affectation.
Upload (2020)
Sarcastic underlife
An underlife reality that merges Black mirror plus The good place's style, and make reflect with sarcasm on what does really matter, before and after death. And how futile all the "uploads" might actually be.
Chappie (2015)
Crime lesson
In a dystopic reality, an unconventional gang give to a new born robot tragicomic crime lessons, sadly showing how easy is to manipulate a pristine conscience. Maybe too much ammos to realize too soon who the too obvious enemy is....
The Shield (2002)
The dirtiest side of LA police
One of the best series ever depict the dirtiest and scariest side of the LA police, when can't help hoping that thing going to get better, but each step they get worst. And the final bitter and inevitable bill to pay leave just bewildered...
The Wire (2002)
The best serie ever
I don't know where i was before The Wire. Crime drama? Here it is. The perfect serie. Neat, sharp as a knife. Never ordinary, although crime is. The shocking remarkable twists and turns. The parallelism, especiallyat the end, that left you speechless as Marlo, at that corner in Baltimore.
The Morning Show (2019)
Can't miss
The series version of Bombshell.
Woman's body commodification told with grate acting, and an absorbing story that I could't stop watching, episode after episode, and that left me astonished, indignate and almost exhausted, after realizing such a crude reality that I only vaguely imagined.
Bombshell (2019)
A true story
I could actually feel the humiliation and degradation as the woman's body commodification. An harsh slap on the face with a cruel and often ignored reality too often taken for granted.
Breaking Bad (2008)
a slow excruciating and torturing crescendo
There are just two series so worth watching: this, and the Wire.
The main characters are totally anti-heros and almost pitiful, there is a lot of violence, and some scene are Tarantino-worthy. Is disruptive.
BUT... you can't stop to binge watching it.
Just genius. In all is shades. Brilliant the soundtrack, the mixture of emotions, the dialogues. It's a slow excruciating and torturing crescendo until the last final episode that just keep you glued to the screen. It makes you wanna scream, cry, swear.
And if you have the chance to watch it all over again....You'll do it.
Brilliant.
Under the Dome (2013)
My head is spinning
Ok, it started all right.
All abt surviving, under this weird dome. Not bad. I love surviving. Catchy.
And than, second season begin.
All of a sudden some of the main character died, without any sense, and then aliens, sizzling egs and biblical plagues...ok, I almost got lost there, but i keep on watching, wanting to know were all this is going to end. And mostly because of Hank of course. Ups sorry Big Jim.
And then....the third season.... ok OMG. Almost got dizzy. Big-Hank-Jim is keeping killing at random, no mercy. And nobody seems to notice. I'm still watching, at this point I really wanna finish it.
But all I could get is: aliens, a matrix reality, poor folks got brain washed, Hank-Big Jim keep killing, a super secret organization, stones for the energy only way to break the dome (??) Eva (who de hell is she) got pregnant, the baby got delivered in 3 days, the baby is evil, then....Buum has the age to vote, starts killing at random, everybody is dying, going to, in danger, running....and Buum!
One year later...Big Jim with a tie, Barbie girl still on the loose, and the best I could remember is Indi the dog.
Ok. What the heck??
I have to admit. My mind is too narrow to understand what the hell happen, and mostly what I've been watching for 3 seasons.
W-O-W
Sky (2015)
A reborn full of sadness
A bitter sweet romance, a reborn and an unlikely almost impossible match, that lead to such a unique love. Not the best script ever at some point, but still make my cry and feel empathy for such a hard human rality
