It had everything for it...then the trial comes
21 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Well acted, no doubt. But if this is an expression of the judicial system in Sweden we are far better in the USA. I can't hardly believe why it ended that way when they had material for a full 10 episodes series. For people with legal background, the presumptive assassin's lawyer has an affair with her mother. Conflict of interest. Her mother, who is a lawyer, finds the weapon and blood stained clothes of her daughter, she meticulously destroys the evidence. Her father, a Protestant Pastor lies without a wink. Coming back to her mother. She coaches a witness to lie in court, never mind if she is an accomplice of the murder. Both mother and father managed to manipulate every single aspect of the prosecution. HORRIBLE. I was hoping to learn something. PS: Sweden has become very insecure due to high drugs and incredibly violence in the areas where poor people live, and most generally a huge amount of Syrian refugees.

Lone Star (1996)
10/10
This is a rare pearl in the ocean of bad Hollywood movies
26 April 2023
Today I needed a good Texas story and found this pearl on YouTube: "Lone Star," a stunning film that weaves together multiple timelines and perspectives to explore the complex history and cultural fabric of a fictional Texas town. The movie features an incredible ensemble cast, led by the talented Chris Cooper, who delivers a standout performance as the town sheriff who unravels a complex mystery that reaches back to the town's past. The characters in the film are rich, complex, and deeply human, and the story unfolds with masterful pacing and attention to detail, revealing new layers of history and intrigue at every turn. The cinematography, music, and a top-notch cast, put together a deeply immersive and engaging film that will leave a lasting impression. However, what truly sets Lone Star apart is its nuanced exploration of themes like race, identity, and legacy, which are handled with deft hands and deep sensitivity. Overall, Lone Star is an absolute gem of a movie, a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant masterpiece that everyone should see at least once.

No lawman
26 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Sure, here's a possible review for the movie "The Lawman":

The Lawman is a classic western film that delivers an intense and action-packed story of justice, revenge, and redemption. The movie's plot follows the story of a tough and experienced lawman, played by Burt Lancaster, who is tasked with bringing justice to a small town after a group of cowboys runs afoul of the law. With a solid script and excellent performances from the cast, The Lawman stands out as a great example of the genre. The action scenes are well choreographed and bring true grit to the film, while the story elements are compelling and drive the plot forward. Overall, The Lawman is a great watch but I didn't like The Lawman shooting a coward on the back. The end made no sense.

Bernard Pivot was a genius presentin this talk-show, about current books - LIVE - and gather the highest TV ratings in France ever, season after season. It happened that I lived in Paris during the time this show was aired. I must thank Bernard Pivot for learning and becoming a 100% fluent in the French language. Why was Bernard Pivot so successful? I can't really explain. I become emotional just about thinking of the beautiful days in France.

Dominating mother beyond sanity

Warning: Spoilers
If you like happy endings stop and switch to another series. Amy Adams is absolutely beautiful and perfect cast for this role. I suspected her mother was involved somehow; and the end chapter puzzles your mind, you will feel that conflict mother-daughter going deep inside you. Outstanding.

Refreshing for the 68' generation
27 December 2020
The majority of critics have no clue about the significance of the events carefully crafted in this truly Italian opereta. I was 18 when this happened and it looked absolutely insane looking at this from America. Fortunately I speak Italian and actors are just fantastic. I will give special credits to Francois Cluzet, one of my favorite French actors. The events are those that happened that year of revolts in France and elsewhere, while this engineer Rosa makes the impossible to pass the same message with technology.

These series were filmed on cheap 35mm film. The image quality is so bad on an ultra definition screen. I wonder if the takes are from the late '40s. The movies were made for a 19" screen TVs

Don't watch Part II of these Series
28 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Part 1 was average but Part II is a non sense exploitation of blood 10/10; and social correctness to sky high levels. They manage to convert a pervert serial killer in the victim. All the people killed by him are the bad guys subject to judgement by this ridiculous policewoman. Then you will never see such a band of incompetent clueless police force. This is the worst movie I have ever seen 60 years. DO NOT WATCH IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP (OR EAT)

The only failure of the movie is the end, it looks like they didn't know what to do next so these last 15 minutes of uncertainty jeopardize the otherwise master of a terror movie.

Homosexuality or a Hospital at war?
13 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The series is fantastic, so accurate to real events however I think they overdo the homosexual relationship over other situations equally important within the context of the series. Russians are not barbarian as described in other warlike stories.

A typical Franco-Français feuilleton
14 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
You ought to be French to understand duality and obvious conflict of interest in such "eco-melo-filme-noir". I was shocked by the Major resuscitating from four 9mm shots right on target, by means of some forest magical spirit. I understand why the town doesn't have a church (not very French). The picture is fantastic. Won't watch Season 2.

I think the movie lacked more details of how the wrong belief has come to almost real truth. Very little science is shown.

You don't like war movies
7 August 2018
Then, watch this one only. I know the Normandy area perfectly. When I see how the 101 and the others, of course, did what those children did, and this representation of how real fear is (not to be confused with cowardice)

(I left wondering, could we bring the spirit of those kids back to countries like Venezuela? Here cowards of both sides destroyed the country without shooting at anything).

(I can see it every day for the benefit of my job. There are priceless management lessons that we can't ignore today)

I don't understand the hatred on this movie
8 July 2018
I was 30 when I watched the first Mad Max installment. I was expecting more action in1980. Watching this "remake" of the second installment taped in 1982, I finally got the action I wanted then. Boy, this is ACTION, no kidding, and not for the faint of heart. This one is so we'll done that you immerse in the it and have to remember you ought to breathe from time to time.

I now see that the subtle message of first Mad Max: in 1979 the fundamental prediction of the current progressive thinking, the last vestiges of the law to attempt restaining vicious gangs. Max, an officer without any legal support, is left without any options but to take the law on his personal hands against those who killed his wife and son. It is clear the Justice system cannot help him. Max becomes a brutal revenger hunting down and murdering those who had the law "protection". In fact, this is very similar to today's human rights or progressive groups more worried about those who violate the law instead of those who are victims or those who are in compliance with the law.
