Waking the Sleeping Giant: The Making of a Political Revolution (2017)
And Where We Go From Here...
Waking The Sleeping Giant shows the run-up to the 2016 election - showing all the players and how they fared, especially Bernie Sanders. But it does more than that, it shows us a deep root of people willing to start a movement - creating a wave that will hopefully crest in 2020.
The filmmakers take their time to weave together incredible stories of hope, strife and pain to show that a movement must start at a grass roots level. I guarantee that after watching this film anyone sitting on the 'my vote doesn't count' fence will soon realize that ever vote counts.
A wonderful film that left me inspired.
A History of Violence (2005)
I believed...and so will you
Cartoon violence but it worked. By that I mean that this screenplay was adapted from a graphic novel and by definition the violence and everything else about this film was over the top. Yet, there was no stretch to suspend my disbelief.
The most powerful element of this film was that every frame I watched had me expecting something big or bad or awful or surprising to happen. A difficult task for any filmmaker to achieve.
The acting was excellent - another element that sucked me into the story.
If you don't like violence in film, this one isn't for you. Otherwise, keep watching for the unexpected.
