Wendell and Vinnie (2013)
Let's Address Jerry Trainor
Pintadgl26 Your review, in a nutshell, was to keep Jerry Trainor a manchild for the rest of eternity.
Jerry Trainor is well into his 30's if not older, so for him to portray a more grown up version of a manchild (drinking and cursing included) is most definitely not a crime against nature or against Jerry himself. I think it would be a good idea for him to get into more adult comedy so he can spread his wings and fly. Saying that somebody should stick to the characters they know and do well is pretty cruel considering actors, like anybody else in the workforce, want to improve their performance and move on to bigger and better things. Jerry Trainor has the ability to move away from Nickelodeon and really make his mark on the world outside of the children's network, and if doing that means he drinks or curses occasionally than so be it. Not the mention the show was technically on Nick at Nite alongside shows like Friends, George Lopez, and The Nanny which all have drinking and/or swearing.
Sam & Cat (2013)
Losing His Touch
Dan Schneider is losing it.
After the weak finale's of iCarly and Victorious, I wasn't expecting much from Sam and Cat. What I got was far below the very low expectations I had of the show. Dan Schneider is typically really great at creating shows for Nickelodeon; shows that kids can enjoy and adults don't want to jump out the window over. Sam and Cat is not one of those shows.
First of all, Sam and Cat are polar opposites. There is no way these two girls would just get along instantly in real life. Not only that, but how Sam can replace Carly as her best friend in the matter of a week is beyond me.
Whoever came up with the whole "Sam and Cat can run a babysitting business" needs to revisit episodes of iCarly and Victorious. First, Sam ran a sweat shop in that penny tee's episode and fed the kids canned horse meat and sandwiches out of a dumpster. Cat was responsible for pet-sitting a dog and when the earthquake came through she left the dog to fend for itself instead of taking it with her. Added to the fact that Cat is hardly above the mentality of a child herself. So you have the combination of a five year old trapped in a teenagers body and a criminal who forces children to work long hours and feeds them canned meat and dumpster sandwiches. Would you leave your children with these two? Second, Sam could not and would not manage online schooling. The only reason she ever went to school was because of Carly and Freddie, and even then she was getting in trouble most of the time. Plus, as a minor, wouldn't her mother have to consent her dropping out of her regular school to drive a motorcycle (I'll get to that later) all the way to California? Unless Sam's 18, she probably wouldn't have a motorcycle license...but I don't think that would matter to her.
The whole idea is just one disaster after another. If they were to make a show about Sam and Jade pulling pranks, I'd get it. If they made a show about Cat starting a candy business, I would get it. Sam and Cat babysitting? No.
