Grey's Anatomy: How to Save a Life (2015)
Poorly Handled
This episode was such a gross mischaracterization of Derek Shepherd's character. I'm so immensely angry at how his death was handled, and it was all due to drama behind the scenes. Derek deserved to be handled far better than this, and him and Meredith deserved a better end. It's no secret how important Derek was to this show, and to have him discarded like trash is truly upsetting. I knew about his death even before starting the show, and was waiting this whole time to see how it was pulled off... only to finally get there and be met with a poorly written, half-baked, insultingly put together episode. Tragic, really. Hoping the show stays okay after this.
Riverdale: Chapter Seventy-Four: Wicked Little Town (2020)
STOP WITH THE MUSICALS
ALL of the musical episodes have been bad, but this one really takes the cake. Kevin goes off the rails and very passionately tries to get Principal Honey to allow him to perform music from Hedwig, leading to some interesting results... like the entire school dressing up in drag as a protest? The whole thing felt so corny and cheesy. At least the other musical episodes had something somewhat major happen (Midge dying in S2, every crazy thing with the Farm in S3), but the only thing of note here is an impulsive Barchie kiss that's going to make everyone so angsty and angry in the next few episodes. I'm so tired of these musical episodes!!
P.T. (2014)
Scary, but Layers of Fear does it better
It's not a bad game, for sure. It's beautifully made and very very tense, given its atmosphere. There's a lot left unsolved. I went into this hearing that it was one of the scariest games of all time, which is saying something, since it was just a teaser, but was incredibly disappointed. From an aesthetic point of view, it's very well done. From a horror game point of view, it could've done way better, in my opinion.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Undeserving of the hate
This was a wonderful movie that was incredibly empowering and wonderfully done. It tied very well into the main storyline of the MCU and tied up some loose ends nicely. I would absolutely recommend this movie!! It's a must-see in a long line of spectacular Marvel movies. Carol Danvers really blows it out of the park!
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Truly Magical
This movie brought back the magic of Disney. It's such a wonderful, whimsical installment in the life of Mary Poppins and the Banks children. The music is gorgeous, Emily Blunt's performance is breathtaking, and the message of the movie will leave old and new viewers in awe. I loved it!!
Stranger Things (2016)
Incredible storyline and cast
In a word, this show is incredible. There's infinite amounts of character development, twists you never expect, and an incredible sci-fi thriller atmosphere beneath the idyllic air of the 1980's. This show is absolutely worth your time, and you'll be binge-watching it before you know it.
The Open House (2018)
Actually a really decent movie, until the VERY end
I honestly don't know what all these crappy reviews are about. Was it my favorite horror/thriller movie? No. But it was certainly suspenseful, tense, and certainly thrilling. It starts off a little slow, but it does an incredible job of building everything up until the end half hour. My only gripe with this movie is that the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It's very intense and adrenaline-pumping, but it doesn't quite answer *why*. I'm left wondering what exactly happened to them, and the reasoning behind it, especially given the back story generated. Still, the movie was very good, and it doesn't deserve the terrible ratings it is getting!!
I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016)
Ugh...
I'm sure there's this huge, artistic, symbolic meaning behind this movie, but to classify it as a "horror" movie is a massive stretch. Sure, there are dark undertones and tense moments, but other than that, this movie is just... boring. Nothing particularly scary happens, and the whole time, you never know what's even going on. The ending falls flat, just like the whole movie. This is the worst movie I have ever watched, no question. Avoid this at all costs.
