Man of the House (2005)
Over The Hill Cop Lives Every Man's Dream
This movie is hilarious! Tommy Lee Jones is great in it, (when isn't he great?)and the male/female, old/young contrasts and conflicts are priceless. I laughed a lot more than I expected to and at the same time was surprised by the three or four times the movie made me feel fear and exhilaration during the action scenes.
The girls who played the cheerleaders were great as well even considering the fact that it is hard to play a bad cheerleader. They are all young, beautiful and hot with just the right amount of prancing around and provocative dress. The best of the bunch was Kelli Garner who has a true actress' ability to do the chameleon thing and change her appearance from film to film. Contrast this movie with her part in The Aviator if you do not believe me. When was the last time Julia Roberts made a transformation this complete? I would have made two changes to the film. (Dont you love the audacity of amateurs?) I would have cast the kid who played quarterback in Friday Night Lights as a good Ranger and I would have had Tommy Lee marry Barb at the end. Why not let those Fantasy loving men in the audience have their happy ending?
The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday (1976)
Comic misadventures in the old West.
An outstanding and irreverent comedy. Lots of belly laughs! Cannot understand why it is not available on DVD yet? Even though that pretty well sums up what I have to say, more is necessary if I want this to appear, so here goes.
Marvin, Reed, Crenna and Lenz all have a gift for comedy that was not always appreciated. Lenz is at her most fetching and can light up the screen and steal scenes, even from such veteran actors. Amazing also the way the old West stuff is still so applicable to modern life. Guess the dynamics of human nature and the relationship between men and women never change much. People a hundred years from now could watch this film and get the same laughs as the same absurdity in human situations will still exist then.
