Cynthia (2018)
Surprising
This was GREAT fun... expected nothing but got an entertaining 90 mins! Storyline is ridiculous, script was tongue in cheek... We were both rooting for Cynthia... totally funny, totally camp and utterly crap... highly recommend...
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Horror perfection has been achieved!
As a life long horror fan, I, like others, am always in search of the perfect horror. Ive given up many 90 minutes of my time to awful horror films. Theres been a few gems but very few reach the levels i'm expecting. Until now and instead of a 90 minute investment it was instead to a brilliant 10 episode series. I binged over two days and i want more. The character development is phenomenal and you want to know each of their stories. This is well worth every second. Watch it now...
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Wow - Just WOW!
I NEVER review on here but after reading the movie critics review of this film I really had to have my say.
I'm a HUGE fan of this genre and have seen pretty much every musical made and this is way up there. Don't listen to the critics, they have this SO wrong this time. Go see this if you still can or get the DVD its a show for all of the family and you will not regret it.
Just the single performance of This is Me will sell you on this movie alone.
The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
A modern masterpiece? I think not
Firstly, I must say that I am not a cold hearted person. I love a good weepy film and I was looking forward to a hungover Sunday afternoon cry but instead I was just wanting the film to end. So, what went wrong? I would say that the main reason is that Hazel is just not a likable character. Gus was just about likable but I felt nothing for Hazel, throughout the whole film she seemed cold and distant, something about her just didn't work. I'm not sure if something was lost when it went from book to screen but something happened (or didn't). At 2hrs 6 mins it was just too long..
KISSING IN ANNE FRANKS HOUSE?! What the f....? And then to be clapped for it? What? I almost cheered Willem Defoe's character for attempting to take Hazel down a peg or two which, I may add, was the only good thing to happen during the abysmal Amsterdam part of the film.
This just bored me and the only way it almost got any kind of tears out of me was from me mourning the 2 hours of my precious weekend I just wasted on this tripe.
For those of you who think that this is a modern masterpiece... you really should see a few more films. Even in this Genre alone this film is WAAAAAY down the list of modern masterpieces...
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005)
Thought this would be terrible
After seeing what I considered to be an awful Miss Congeniality when it first came round, I was very reluctant to watch the second. Anyway, after being pressured and forced into it I went along, I am SO pleased I did. This film is hilarious where I would have given 1/10 for the first film, this one deserves a good 9/10! Bullock rocks as Gracie Hart in this one and Regina King I think has certainly stamped her name as a respected actor/comedian with this. Bullock and King work fantastically well together and their comedic timing could not be better. The costumes, the actors - Enrique Murciano plays the dumb FBI agent fantastically. Heather Burns turns on the air head look once more for the role of Miss United States, which she does so brilliantly. The fight scenes are a lot better this time round with Regina King ruling the roost on this one as she gets to kick some serious ass (including Bullocks a few times) Overall this is a highly recommended film, if you fancy watching something lighthearted with some laugh out loud scenes then go see this at the weekend, you wont regret it.
