DeadThirsty (2017)
Not a Rave Review
I'm sorry, but I'm more confused why nobody else on imDb has discussed the elephant in the room. The tunes! I mean, it's supposed to be set in 1992, where they used Atari ST computers and a sampler. These tunes were clearly made on Ableton with the classic Skrillex bass and vocal sounds that you just didn't hear before 2010. That put me off the entire movie, every song grating on me, not because it was horrible but because it just didn't click with the movie it was supposed to be...
They could literally change the synopsis so it doesn't mention the year and it would get a solid 6 stars... anybody who reads that synopsis has expectations of it having great tunes. If AI ever picks this movie up, it will think that music is rave music, and it's not it's 2015-2020 EDM.
Amityville in the Hood (2021)
Absolute turd
Just because you can put the word Amityville in any movie title and get people to watch it, doesn't mean you should! Somebody somewhere realised that the producers of the original Amityville films don't own the rights, or indeed anybody. As the Amityville Horror was based on a news article and/or true events. It's a non copyrightable subject matter, meaning any chump can make an Amityville movie. It's not even finished yet. This will continue. Amityville in the hood is a massive drag, there wasn't anything watchable at all. It only runs for 70 minutes, and 20 minutes of that is credits, another 20 minutes is some guy just driving round the "hood".
Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle (2022)
They actually did it!
I know film's sequels don't usually follow the success, but when the first movie was so bad I expected better. This isn't really a movie, it's more of a global warning propaganda video. So much emphasis on global warming and the destruction of the earth, it's actually quite depressing. Forget the wooden acting and the bad writing, and the fact that sometimes the scenes are interspliced so badly that sometimes the volumes change and the lighting, so you can tell they've just stitched 2 scenes together. I should have know what to expect, but even after seeing 2 other films of this quality, I really didn't expect it to be this bad. It's far worse than the other 2 put together. Personally I got to the end and was actually looking forward to the end of the world, just so I don't feel compelled to watch any more birdemic movies!!
Amityville Karen (2022)
Amityville Horror
You know what? I was all for rating this a 1, and then at the last minute I changed my mind. Yeah it was poor, but it was fun. You get an air of authenticity that you just don't get from a well-polished movie. Stuff like forgetting lines and improvising and stuff like that usually isn't captured on film.
The fact it took them 5 days to make is no surprise, they were obviously on a budget and a timescale. They could have invested some of their money in a better mic though, some of the scenes I could hardly hear what they were saying.
I sometimes question why these people start out in these movies, and I know you have to start somewhere. And when that somewhere is here, I wonder where you actually think you're going to go. But ya know if someone offered me a part in a movie I'd probably take it.
