This Is Me... Now: A Love Story (2024)
Pleasantly surprised!
Like many others, i was extremely skeptical about this "movie" when I first heard about it and saw the previews. All the chatter was very misleading and I'm ashamed to say that I decided to watch it because I thought it would be entertaining by how bad/ridiculous it was. However, I was forced to eat my words as soon as the first song started. The idea of working in a "heart factory" was inspired and the effects were incredible. I don't know how best to describe this piece of art but it is art and i did love it. It was like a long music video driven by brief narrative and it completely worked for me. It's not a crime for artists to try new things and it's absolutely not something to vilify. It's disheartening to live in a time when artists aren't allowed to veer off the beaten path. I loved this new form of entertainment and music delivery and I would love to see some of my favorite artists try something like this in the future. I'm open to and excited about any type of new way to express art. It's something that should celebrated and applauded and I hope neither JLO nor any other artist are discouraged by negative cynics.
The Brothers Sun (2024)
Absolutely loved it!
This ended up being one of my favorite shows in a long time! I had no interest when it first came out but I eventually gave it a shot and I fell in love with the sun brothers! They did an amazing job balancing action and comedy. I loved the absurd hilarity of the situations and the fight scenes were top notch! There's so much more to see about their story. I really hope Netflix gives it a season 2. The actors who played the brothers both did a phenomenal job and their chemistry was one of the highlights of the show. I especially hope to see the actor who plays Chairleg get cast in more roles in the future. I think both actors have great potential and brought this story to life.
The Idol (2023)
Disappointing
I love seeing behind the stardom curtain so I was excited to see what revelations this show would uncover. Episode 1 started off interesting and I loved seeing the dynamics of her team. I really like all of the side characters and i want Jocelyn to succeed. When the weekend was introduced, I thought it worked. He was obviously creepy but I understand that's what he was going for.
However, by the end of the 2nd episode I was extremely disappointed. I understand that Jocelyn is lost right now but I really don't want to watch an entire show of her being manipulated by tedros. This show could have been been approached in so many different perspectives but they chose straight up PORNO, which seems like the least interesting option. Perhaps they're doing this because it's a reflection of the current state of Hollywood. I hope that by the end of the season Jocelyn succeeds and all of tedros' evil plans are thwarted. But I won't be sticking around to find out. Too many cringey/unnecessary scenes for me.
Lucifer: Til Death Do Us Part (2018)
Best episode ever!
Lucifer's fight scene in the beginning was amazing and the undercover it was HILARIOUSLY PERFECT.
