The Beast Comes at Midnight (2023)
A fun Werewolf romp for people of all ages!
You don't always get to see Indie horror flicks so well crafted. But from start to finish this film delivers. Everyone from the veteran cast (Pare and Roberts) to the youthful cast really turn in stellar performances. It harkens back for me personally to a lot of great 80's horror movies that I loved. The films colors reminded me of the great Lost Boys, while the teen themes have a solid foundation in The Monster Squad. This is a really fantastic outing, and I for one can not wait to see what this great production team from Florida puts out next! Make sure you check this one out though. It is pretty epic.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Donald Pleasance is turning over
The film is so full of plot holes, that it seems an angry twelve year old wrote it with a crayon. And having Michael move quickly with ferocity is so against the character, it displays the film makers do not understand what makes Michael scary to begin with. The social commentary of the mob mentality of the folks of Haddonfield, was their feeble attempt to connect the film to the acts of January 6th. The recreation of Dr. Loomis was so poor, it was embarrassing. And the use of Jamie Lee Curtis who got first billing, was laughable at best. Other than that, it was swell.
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
Fun...But weird.
Jeepers Creepers 3 is a weird movie going experience. I loved the first one, and really liked the second one. I went into three wanting to love it. I didn't. But here is the weird part. The movie felt like it was never fully finished. Almost like a very rough first draft was the finished product. It almost looked as if they ran out of money before it was completed. It was very strange. If you are a fan of the first two, you will like to see the characters you love. If this is your first experience with the characters, you will be like what the hell did I just watch!
