A Netflix masterpiece..
28 April 2024
At first I was a little apprehensive to watch this. Netflix rarely produces anything above 7 in rating, and this was in black and white.

The first episode is a bit slow but holds the attention enough to watch the next episode. From episode two you can really see the storyline developing. To the extent that you just can't put it away - binged the whole series in two days!

The acting is fantastic and the whole production is first class.

There is enough there at the end to form another series - and I would certainly watch it!

One slight negative is I don't think the filming in black and white was necessary or warranted.

This is one of the best series on Netflix - watch it, you won't be disappointed!

Badly executed!
29 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Really looked forward to watching this movie, hadn't appreciated it was three and half hours long. The movie starts well and certainly grips attention. But then it flip flaps in some very odd directions. The direction was so poor, the storyline is disjointed and doesn't have any flow. The main character, turns from being a nutcase to some type of superhero. The action scene in the hotel borders on absolute absurdity.

Ranbhir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor are fantastic, the quality of acting is superb but the script, the direction and the rather pathetic attempt at the end to leave a cliff hanger for another movie is just nonsensical.

The story could have been told in 2 hours and been so much better.

Nothing special!
30 December 2023
As a modern story of life in an Indian city, the story lacked any kind of out-of-the-box thinking. In some ways it was boring and pointless. The only redemption was the quality of acting, which did not disappoint.

My rating is purely down to the quality of the acting.

There were times throughout the movie where the storyline could have been more explosive or more interesting but the producers decided to opt for a dull, predictable and often mediocre movie. The storyline could literally have been written on a page!

I would not watch this again or recommend to anyone. I don't quite understand the comments from others or whether we were watching the same thing.

The ending was cringy and and so unnecessary. Didn't add anything to the story as it was simply too late.

Not finished!!!
29 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This series has ended prematurely. It felt like the story writers had just had enough and decided to bring the whole thing to an end.

In some ways, like all great shows, it leaves you wanting more - but unlike other great shows the story was left half finished. None of the characters had any conclusion. The question of what happens next is what we are all left with. I expected someone to be crowned but what an anti-climax to watch Tom being the one! They may as well have given it to Greg!

There was a rather pathetic attempt to make you think the whole thing was planned all along with Shiv and Tom leaving together but I'm afraid that just doesn't stack up. More like something that was thrown in without any real thought or plot to support.

The producers need to make another season, if nothing else to close off some of the loose ends.

Was not expecting that storyline!

Warning: Spoilers
Watched this movie expecting a rom-com but shocked to see the movie take a really unexpected twist!

Overall it's a story that gets sweeped under the carpet in India but a very real serious topic. It was delivered as lighthearted with some comedy and I think that was incredibly clever of the story writers.

My only criticism is that the trans-girl should have been played by a real life trans. The fact that I know Vaani Kapoor is not a trans took something away from the movie. It would also have been interesting to see AK acting alongside a trans with all the physical interactions the movie required!

Unexpectedly good!
2 April 2022
I knew nothing about this movie or anything about the IMDb rating - therefore had zero expectations and it actually turned out to be a real gem. The movie was so unpredictable. The plot was well stitched together and the message was strong. Entertainment value was great but you have to question the actions taken to get the message out. Politically no PM or government could allow such actions to result in victory.

Overall a must see!

The worst "who dunit" ever
16 January 2022
Undoubtedly the worst detective, suspense thriller I have ever seen. The storyline was poor, the direction was poor, the script was poor, the acting was poor - another Netflix flop!

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Not bad but...
8 January 2022
There's no doubting Amitabh Bachchan is the greatest Bollywood actor ever but I found his portrayal of the character very odd. At times it was painful to watch, a character that is slow and lethargic and then suddenly jumps to life and becomes a tactical law genius with the energy of a 20 year old! Personally I don't think the mixed personality was required for such a serious subject.

The court room drama was also poorly constructed and directed. And this leads you to have a slightly incredulous feeling when the final verdict is read out as it didn't seem like the defence had presented a strong rebuttal.

Overall rating based on thee seriousness of the subject matter which is clearly an issue that needs attention!

Absolute pants!
28 December 2021
Within 10 minutes you know how the movie is going to end. It's absolutely dreadful. The direction is poor, the production is poor and the actors, a few whom are well known and established, are made to look really bad by the poor script.

The movie is a complete waste of time!

Best cricket movie ever!
28 December 2021
This is a classic feel good movie about cricket! If you are expecting the story to be about something more than cricket you will be disappointed. Absolutely loved the movie and emotion it brings. Too young to remember 83 but to see the story being told with obvious input from Kapil Dev and those who were part of the Indian cricket team gives it real authenticity.

There were times when I would question whether Kapil Dev was the flamboyant character that was being portrayed but there can be no mistaking his passion to win.

What a great film and excellently told!

Would have been 9 if not for the end..

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely nothing better than court room drama except this wasn't your typical good vs bad. It had real bite to it. Thoroughly enjoyed throughout until the end which was like the story writers couldn't decide what to do and therefore decided to do nothing! Left the door open for another season except it wasn't one of those serials that can do another one! They could have had a spectacular finale and instead ended with a damp squid!!

Good but could have been great!!

Good start but..
2 October 2021
A good start to the series and the first few episodes really entice you but unfortunately there just isn't enough content to keep this going for 8 episodes. By the time you reach episode 3, it all becomes very mundane and you find it hard to keep your eyes open.

The end was totally predictable. Overall I would say don't waste your time on this!

Waited and waited..
25 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Was hoping the series would get better, that there would be a shock ending, that there had to have been a point to this - but it never came!

It ended with the most predictable ending that could be imaginable!

The game just doesn't work and what started out as an intriguing concept soon filters out. The show lacks real entertainment value and should not return for a season 2! Cancel it now!

Great storyline, great movie!
21 August 2021
Light hearted comedy to begin with but turns very serious by the end. Kirti Sanon played the role of her career so far and did it justice. Pankaj Tripathi was absolutely brilliant throughout - different to the roles he usually plays, he definitely has a career in playing more comedy roles!

Definitely recommend, movie of the year (so far)!!

What was the point??!!!
11 August 2021
This should never have been a movie! The fact that it was a true story enticed me into watching but usually when you watch a true story turned into a movie, the story is compelling - sadly this was not the case with this movie!

Avoid avoid avoid!

Refreshingly brilliant!

I have watched a lot of dross in recent months and the expectations for this were low but the series captivates you from the very first episode. The storyline is so unpredictable and keeps you guessing till the very end!

Great series and definitely worth watching!

Absolute pants...until the end!
5 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie has no beginning, no middle but has one hell of an end!

Unfortunately the 10 minutes at the end doesn't make up for the rest of the movie being a complete waste of time!

Worth a watch if you have a spare two and half hours!

Surprisingly good!
27 July 2021
Had very low expectations on this but turned out to be surprisingly good. Anil Kapoor plays a role I didn't expect from him and does it full justice. The lead actor was good though lacks real charisma. Disha Pattani needs more experience, her acting skills are limited and it means her character is very bland - that said, she makes up for it in the looks department!

Overall, good movie would recommmend!

Was it just me...
20 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Though I understand the sentiment that was attempted to be portrayed by the slap - the actual scene where it happens looked like an accident. It could have been anyone in the way just a misfortune it happened to be his wife. In some way that really undermined the message the story was trying to tell. The movie would have been so much better if the slap was intended.

The acting and dialogue could also have been better. Above average movie but nothing special.

Complicit..
11 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Yes he was found not guilty and that was just under the circumstances but the boy was complicit in the robbery by the very fact he knew what was about to happen and didn't warn anyone. He may not have been part of a pre-meditated act but his guilty feeling at the end left you feeling he could and should have spoken up.

Yes the odds are stacked against young black men in America but on this occasion, he was one lucky boy!

Good movie, well structured and the story-telling was excellent.

Great start but...
8 May 2021
This series starts off so well - the storyline was very real and the story-telling was carefully planned and executed but.. by the time you reach episode 6-7 the story heads in a very odd direction. The illusions take over the plot, to the extent that it sometimes becomes difficult to differentiate what's real from the illusion.

By the time you get to the end it all becomes a bit of a disappointment. This could have been so much better..

Poor end to a great show..
2 May 2021
If this was the last and final episode, as it was built up to be, it was poor! It was as though the writers couldn't make their mind up on whether this was really the end or whether they want to continue!

The revelation of the mastermind "H" was a complete anti-climax! All the other characters were left with the door wide open - no closure at all. I can only imagine the public have been scammed in believing this was the last season - there has to be another one!

A story that needed to be told..
17 April 2021
At times the story was slow and the highlights brief but what a story!

The main actor was superb.

Left the movie with mixed emotions those of both sadness and anger. Time to close Guantanamo for good!

Plays on stereotypes.. poor!
3 April 2021
This movie is predictable and plays on typical stereotypes. The storyline is badly constructed and lacks any creativity. Though I accept the events were inspired by true events, the writer/director struggles to piece to together a coercive plot.

I expect the movie was created on a low budget and that is the only positive I can take!
