The Queen's Gambit (2020)
"The Queen's Gambit" is SUPERB, STRIKING, EXCELLENT and straight-up BRILLIANT (to say the least
I am writing this publication with an increased level of excitement because "Peak TV" is far from slowing down. Television continues to offer quality across the board and Netflix's "The Queen's Gambit" is a prime example of it.
By the end of 2020, this limited series quickly captured the zeitgeist and a mid-20s actress took the world by storm. I was already a fan of her, I was not instantly aware of her series, but knew that I would eventually watch it. What I did not know is how it would become a phenomenon over the course of mere days. And rightly so, this production is SUPERB, STRIKING, EXCELLENT and straight-up BRILLIANT (to say the least).
Last week I spent its full seven days fully immersed in the 1960s, witnessing the story of 'Beth Harmon' unravel. Without exaggerating, I had not been this excited to watch a new episode of a show since 2016 with "The People V OJ Simpson" and the 3rd season of "Halt And Catch Fire" (which by the way, both are currently on my all-time ranking).
Not only we were presented with 7 episodes flawlessly executed in the production and art department, with an atmosphere that sends you back in time, but also with top-notch acting from its whole cast. Wow, each character had a purpose to the story, not a single complaint on that department.
Oh and the story, THE story, was the winning aspect for me. Even though I have never been an adept #Chess player, I was committed and invested since we could feel how much it mattered to the characters. And as for the journey of the main protagonist (played to perfection by the revelation herself, Miss Any Taylor-Joy), I honestly felt it in my bones. When we find relatability in a character, that's when you know that the writers did their job right. I seriously applaud how the creators were able to present the struggles of a genius in an authentic manner, to show us the nuances of addiction without the need of feeling cliché and showing a real human capable of thinking, learning and GROWING as well.
"The Queen's Gambit" has entered the list of the most impactful and important series of my life and for that I just have gratitude for its team specially to Scott Frank and Allan Scott.

Very weird and at the same time enjoyable
Guys...
I saw the film, and I really enjoyed it!!! #MichaelFassbender once again proved he's the greatest Irish sensation of the XXI century...! And Every single character is SO weird and at the same time intriguing. The acting was a tour-de-force and the story about a band led by a mentally ill singer will leave you with a smile on your face.
What I enjoyed the most is the mixture of thematics the film develops through out its run, because at one moment you're laughing out loud then you're shocked and sad; Also the pastel tonalities of the photography kind of makes you think you are inside an Instagram picture of lifestyle-and-trends website.
I totally advise you to check out this little indie film, and if not, do it for Michael Fassbender because he still manges to look HOT even with his mask over his head and his weirdness in the movie... Haha!
Hors les murs (2012)
Simply beautiful...
One of the best TRUE-Love stories I've seen in movies! The film felt very real, and that's why I ADORED IT!!! Everything was fantastic... From the origin and discovery of love, the heartbreak and then the rebirth of love.
These are the types of movies that make you believe in true-love, and not a far-fetched version of it, a very tangible one.
I truly recommend this feature. I'm really glad that I found it!!! And the script was very good too, the acting was marvelous, that you really believe in them.
:D 10/10.
