Black Adam (2022)
Meh...
With the history of DC Universe movies that have come out over the last decade or so I went into this one with pretty low expectations. I was not disappointed. The good points first. Good action sequences, overall great costuming, some decent one-liners.
Now the bad. There was zero backstory/character development for the "Justice Society" members. Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher were just kind of there as if we were supposed to already know everything about them. They show up in Khandaq, spend 30 seconds talking to Adriana about what they say is the truth about Teth Adam and totally change her mind about this mythological hero of her culture who has come back. What?
The storyline felt like the producers couldn't decide between two scripts so they ended up smashing them together taking the beginning from one and the ending from another.
As another reviewer said, I spent the first half of the movie confused and the second half annoyed.
NCIS: Hawai'i: T'N'T (2022)
Tennant needs to go
The writers really messed up with this one. Having Knight in this crossover was a huge mistake. She showed more leadership ability in 30 seconds of talking to Ernie than Tennant does with all her her strutting and cheesy bravado. They need to fire Tennant and bring Knight over from DC.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: The Helpers (2022)
Horrible, horrible episode
The only good thing about this episode was the faint hope that Kasie was leaving the series. Then they went and squashed that hope in the end. The only reason this got 2 stars was the vague cliffhanger ending which makes me want to see how they get the Raven. It had better be because Gibbs comes back, otherwise this show might be dead.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Pledge of Allegiance (2022)
Plothole
Major plothole with this episode. Nazir has dual citizenship in the US and Afghanistan. He also has Top Secret clearance. Problem is, you can't hold a Top Secret clearance with the US government if you hold dual citizenship. You have to guve up the citizenship in any other country in order to be granted a TS clearance.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Getting slightly better
The pilot was absolutely horrible. The characters were unlikable, the writing was stilted and they didn't even make good use of the locations in Hawai'i for filming. But then, I didn't like NCIS:LA when it first came out either so I decided to keep watching in hopes that it would get better. With each new episode I feel like most of the characters have been getting better. I'm actually starting to like all of them, except for Tennant. I know they wanted a female lead character on a show, but this is just bad. Her character delivers cheesy one liners in tense situations to try to make her look tough, but it just comes across as pathetic. I honestly think Lucy would be a better choice for a female lead character than Tennant is.
And they still don't make good use of the Hawai'ian location for filming.
Into the Woods (2014)
This movie made me wish for negative stars in the rating system
I gave this movie 1 star out of 10 only because it is not possible to give it a negative star rating. Five minutes into the film I desperately wanted to walk out. Unfortunately I sat there and lost 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. This is the second worst movie I have ever seen in my life behind "Napoleon Dynamite."
It seemed like a great idea for a Broadway musical, which I understand it once was, however the concept did not transfer well to film. Several of the songs made me extremely uncomfortable with all the children sitting in the theater, especially my own. I admit that I'm not a huge fan of musical films in general. I just have a hard time getting around the fact that people are having a conversation in song. However I have found several musical films that I really like where the singing conversations seem natural. The songs in this one on the other hand just seemed extremely forced and over the top.
