Monster in the Shadows (2021)
This documentary stigmatizes victims
I am a survivor of father-daughter sexual abuse, and this documentary perpetuates the lie that victims become perpetrators.
The vast majority of CSA victims do NOT go on to become abusers. Also, we don't all "love" our abusers as one fool in this documentary stated. One of the happiest days in my life was when my father dropped dead of a cocaine induced heart attack.
Victims pretend to love their abusers because we desperately seek acceptance and approval from others. We tell people what they want to hear. In reality, we usually do NOT become abusers and we usually HATE our abusers. But "nice girls" don't hate, so we pretend otherwise.

Rich People's Problems
If you didn't want to eat the rich before watching this series, you will afterwards.
It's astounding how out of touch the "woke" upper classes can be. Their blindness and insensitivity never ceases to amaze me.
This show made me want to sharpen my pitchfork.
Hard Pass.
Accused: Tina's Story (2012)
Rape Culture & Misogyny
The fourth episode of the second season destroyed the whole experience for me. The first and third episodes were absolutely brilliant, so watch them. But the FOURTH episode was the most grotesquely misogynistic thing I have ever seen. Spoiler alert: in this episode, a supposedly "tough" female prison guard at a juvenile prison is set up by her coworker to be raped by an inmate. She is easily over-powered and raped, then the rapist weeps as if HE were the victim. The female guard stands up, puts on her pants, reattaches her gun belt, then goes home to take a bath. She does not go to the hospital or report the rape to her husband or the police. She could be pregnant or have a serious STD but does nothing to medically protect herself. Instead she goes back to work the next day and warns her rapist not to tell anyone, because she doesn't want the other boys to "mock her." She gives both the rapist and her coworker a full pass to abuse her. She then chooses to set free another inmate who committed a cold blooded murder in the first episode. She is charged for aiding his escape, then given a suspended sentence by the sympathetic judge. The episode ends with the formerly "tough" security guard having been put in her place by her rapist and her male coworker, leaving her manly job to go home to her husband and children. She is now no longer a "tough" security guard but a sweet self-negating wife and mother who believes boys should not be held accountable for raping women or committing murder. This was absolutely disgusting and vile, and the main character behaved like a dumb passive animal. Gross.
The One I Love (2014)
This movie is a wonderful libido crusher
As a woman, I felt betrayed by this film. I was fooled into believing this was a romantic comedy. Trust me, it is not. If you want a movie to watch while cuddling with your husband or boyfriend, one that will put you in "the mood" then please do not watch this film. Trust me, unless you are desperate and lacking in self-esteem, it will have the opposite effect. The ending felt like having a man bring me flowers, take me to a nice restaurant, and then spit in my face. This is a frat-boy movie. Definitely not a romance-friendly or female-friendly film. But if you are a "bro's before ho's" kind of guy, and you want to feel good about that, you will very much enjoy this film. If you are angry at women who want you to take responsibility for your part of making a relationship work, you will love this film. If you are a man who respects the woman you're in love with, who values women and your relationships with them, the ending will disappoint you so much you will be sorry you wasted your money.
