Spider-Man 2 (2004)
With a Great Adaption, Comes a Greater Masterpiece
Sam Raimi, along with his cast and crew, raise the bar in Spider-Man 2, the sequel to 2002's biggest cinema hit, Spider-Man, and creates one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.
SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!! SKIP FOLLOWING PASSAGE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!! The cast from the first movie returns for the next adventure of the iconic superhero. Peter Parker struggles to find balance in his double-life as a college student and a superhero, while also dealing with both his feelings for Mary Jane Watson and his declining friendship with Harry Osborn. It does not make things any easier when new villain Doctor Octopus (or just Dock Ock) arrives on the scene, whom in this movie is more sympathetic than his comic book counterpart. Things get even more complicated for our hero when he discovers that Mary Jane, now popular stage actress, is engaged to marry the son of his boss, J. Jonah Jameson, who never misses an opportunity to slam the web-head's heroics with his own newspaper.
SPOILER END!! SPOILER END!! Spider-Man 2 towers over the first installment in greatness. When Sam Raimi says he is a fan of Spider-Man, you can tell he means it. The acting is superb, the story is great with a great meaning, and the CGI has improved greatly from the last movie, and the love story is even more heart-wrenching than the previous installment. If anything, some will probably find the extended version more fulfilling than the theatrical version.
A must-see! 10/10!
Godzilla 1985 (1985)
The Movie that Made Me Into a Fan!!
This started it all for me when I was a child. My family and I were on our way home, but then we decided to stop at a gas station where you could also rent movies. Sure enough, my mom handed me a movie she thought I would enjoy titled Godzilla 1985 due to my love of dinosaurs. I was hooked from beginning to its tragic end, and the moment I saw King of the Monsters on screen, I was a fan, and to this day I proudly still am! Though this not the best Godzilla movie ever made, it is still a decent return for the king! From villain to superhero, then back to villain in his 80s return and showing off what he does best: destruction! Keep in mind that after decades of fighting other monsters after his first appearance in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Gojira in Japan), Godzilla is solo this time, but all the while what still makes a descent (if not great) return.
A giant monster movie definitely worth checking out rather you are a fan or not!
Majo no jouken (1999)
One of the Best of JDrama
Brief summary of Majo no Jouken: A 26-year-old teacher and her 17-year-old homeroom student form a bond as both can relate to the pressures that family and society puts on them. This close bond quickly turns into a love that is forbidden to the law of society.
Having been introduced to JDrama's (Japanese Drama's) a few years ago, this was a pleasant surprise for me and I must say I enjoyed every minute of it. The story was beautiful and emotional and you just couldn't help but hope that the heroes get their happy ending through the trials set on them individually and as a couple. There are just so many people that can relate not just to the protagonists, but to the support characters also (myself being one of them)! I will warn you though to get out the tissues, even if you are a guy!
