Freier Fall (2013)
Well built, but poorly finished.
The performances are believable and very good in certain points (especially the ones from the married protagonist). The picture is quite acceptable and cadence also has its flaws, but does not become bad. The script, however, is already widely exploited in many LGBT films. And does not offer anything new that makes it different to others. The crux of the film and the start of romance are credible and I think they are the only two hotspots that gives the script. In the development of the plot there are points where you think something interesting will happen at the end. It never comes. Instead, the ending is very weak. However, it is not a bad movie. It is an entertaining look at the world of men who discover their sexuality at a point where their lives are already made, but nothing more. The film leaves you wanting something more interesting, with such a flat script.
The Mudge Boy (2003)
Sad, real, perfectly acted and filmed
Simply, this film is a little known gem of LGBT cinema. The performances are sublime: Emile Hirsch and Tom Guiry playing their roles as realistically and movingly (with the specific characteristics of their role) who manage to make this film an emotional journey that will get more than one reflect on the plight which still face many gay guys around the world. This reflection is another strong point of the film: the rawness that emulates perfectly fine as reality, gives great value to the script and the direction. The photography is excellent, beautiful. But forget about production resources. The script, Duncan's story is a case that can even be a real case of our neighbor. Very well filmed, with a poignant script and first-rate performances, this film is highly recommended as vindicating the LGBT genre.
The Incredibles (2004)
One of the best animated movies ever.
The sequences, music, photography and digital animation of this film is unsurpassed. Each narrative moment has its own cadence and rhythm very well done, which to join, create a children's movie that can be enjoyed by anyone who is interested in it, regardless of age. Not only by the way it is told, no, but by the also excellent script. A script that combines in a perfect way (something rarely seen in a children's movie) fantasy, action and reality. It's a good story in a nutshell. A good story, in which elements of realism and fantasy are combined in a way that lends credibility and strength to the characters, which, as I said, it is unusual for a film of this genre. But without losing that touch of fantasy and action pretty well made that characterizes and gives life to the genre. But for me, the ending is a little weak compared to the all high expectations that generated the excellent plot.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
The best Harry Potter movie
Cuaron puts the vision of a great director in the Harry Potter world, and the result is the most enjoyable film of the saga. The photography and design of the wizarding world is a big plus point of the film: simple but with great meaning and substance. However, the transition of the trio to his teenage version seen somewhat forced, botched. Especially in the dialogues and some situations that seem obvious for this purpose. Yet, some scenes featuring the boys have an interesting force. The acting is not the strong point of the film, as many want to believe, but the cadence and the visual art. Cuaron manages to, however, succeed and provide the most interesting film in the series (even for non-fans)
Einayim Pekukhoth (2009)
Excellent acting, excellent LGBT movie.
A great, very well acted, writed and filmed movie. A emotional trip that even brings us a reflection: the complexity of being gay in the very different cultures all over the world and the complexity of being who you really want to be. No doubt, a beautiful joy of the LGBT cinema. The film has a very polished cadence, and a very polished end too. Two points that make it shine. Actors do well. Dominate their characters in a realistic, touching and very natural way. The acting is another great achievement of this production. And since this is a drama, action causes the script to succeed. It is difficult to say whether a wider audience can enjoy this movie (which is already addressed to the gay community); should be, because the emotions it reflects are universal and represent social repression, which in many countries is still a common denominator.
