Skinamarink (2022)
Not suitable for anyone.
This movie was an absolute waste of time. The overly dark scenes coupled with the grain effect made it incredibly difficult to watch. The reason for watching something is so I can actually see it. The use of the unorthodox camera angles I found more irritating and actually took away from the tension they were trying to create with them. The volume fluctuations made it so hard to hear dialogue that I found the closed captions were an absolute necessity. The jump scares were too few and far between and were needed because I couldn't even allow myself to get into the movie enough to feel the character tension with them. The volume of the jump scares also is a problem because we had the volume up so loud to try and hear the dialog that it physically hurt my ears when they went full volume with the moment. If you still absolutely find yourself having to watch it I hope you enjoy it more than we did.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Well I made myself do it.
So I finally watched this movie. I forced myself to do it while getting my furnace replaced so I had nowhere to go. The storyline is forced. I feel like they needed to add a character for the upcoming series finale to avengers and decided that this pile of crap was the answer. They skipped the long trivial story of the first captain marvel and went right to this which is fine in a cinematic universe unless you cast Brie Larson. The movie is dry and filled with convenience situational meetings that only an 80's flick can get away with. When Jude Law is more believable than the main characters you have a problem and I love Jude Law. Sam Jackson has to carry ever seen with Brie because well she's the worst I don't know who decided this was ok but they need to rethink their life. So other than needing to see this flick to find out how Fury looses an eye and how Marvel becomes part of the MCU I suggest trying to fast forward thru most of the movie maybe even find a quick synopsis online please don't ruin your life with this.
The Boss Baby: Back in Business (2018)
Everyone can watch
We recently started watching this with our two year old. He absolutely loves the show. It's bright colorful and has the music and slap stick comedy that kids love. That being said it also has enough tongue in cheek jokes for adults to enjoy too. I enjoy watching this with him everyday. That being said the voice actors choices for the adult characters are annoying to a point that make certain pets hard to watch. And the repetition of how similar ALL adults look drives me nuts but isn't something the kids will notice.
Funland (1987)
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Don't....Don't watch this movie. Ever. Don't do it. You can't get that part of your life back.
Batman Ninja (2018)
Batman hits an epic low.
This depiction of Batman could have been an amazing mash up of classic Japanese action and modern day heroes. Instead you get horrible cliché after cliché. Of course the movie centers on time travel so the week explanation of villains coming to power in ancient japan has to be dismissed with a simple it's time travel remark and that's what you have to accept. The voice acting is terrible with the Joker and Batman, the joker is squeaky and lacks the darkness most of the variations of the character have had. And Batman tries too hard. Sadly all I could picture was LEGO Batman every time he spoke. After a few visual changes to the characters without reason or explanations we are granted with the entire bat family reunion. Sadly the characters don't get any chance for a back story of why or how except again for the time travel is unpredictable sentence and again we are back to the storyline. Fast forward a bit and we are then shown the villains and their super weapons which are then really giant transformers. And let's not forget that the villains have armies too all who wear samurai style masks that represent their masters. So passing up on all the clichés and bad acting, this latest installment to the Bat franchise is sadly just mildly entertaining. It's Batman meets Voltron meets Power Rangers meets transformers meets Anime all wrapped together in a Tromaville style story. So let your expectations go and if you have never seen a Batman movie or comic or animation before you might like this.
