Bird Box (2018)
A missed opportunity
Despite a fantastic opening, this film feels permanently stuck in second gear and never delivers on its premise.
Sandy Bullock is dependably excellent as always, but you barely raise an eyebrow as the bland supporting cast get bumped off one by one.
Hurricane Bianca: From Russia with Hate (2018)
It's awful but I liked it
This is a total disaster on a cinematic level but I still rather enjoyed it! Bianca is quite fabulous - someone give her a gig in a mainstream move!
Unfortunately, most of the supporting cast are a complete disaster.
Kaleb King take a bow - you singlehandedly almost ruined this entire thing. Fan favourite Katya is about as funny as she was on the two seasons she clogged up - so not very.
Still, at least we have Bianca and Rachel Dratch to enjoy.

The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)
A pale imitation of other glories
Lots of talent (bar the ludicrous Selena Gomez in a career-killing performance) but absolutely no inspiration.
A clueless drama that trots out every awful cliché imaginable and is utterly predictable at every dreadful turn.
Denial (2016)
An interesting story poorly told
Neither the script nor Weisz convince in this disappointing superficial and artificial take on the David Irving libel case. Timothy Spall, however, is on fine form.
The Purge (2013)
As bad as you've heard
Feeble horror/thriller which completely wastes its single good idea on a derivative and tedious home invasion storyline.
Shallow characters making stupid decisions in a thrill-free 90 minute dawdle through horror film clichés make this one purge you'd be well advised to miss.
Handsome Devil (2016)
Thoroughly predictable, thoroughly dull
A cross between Dead Poets Soxiety and an 80s Pink Peril film, this witless drama's leaden script and lifeless performances leave no cinematic cliché unexplored.
