Shut In (2022)
you can easily tell whos rating this a 10
Alt-right people LOVE this movie. Its got everything they'd want from the daily wire, from trump loving vincent gallo to idiotic symbolisms about how religion is good for you lol. Its pathetic.
Senior Year (2022)
fun and hilarious
This movie is everything you expect a light hearted comedy to be. Great job by the actress who played the younger rebel wilson. She totally nailed all of her mannerisms. And AS IF they had that cameo by a certain 90s icon as well!
Station Eleven (2021)
Mackenzie Davis deserves better
I really wanted to like this because Mackenzie Davis was amazing in Halt & Catch Fire.
Unfortunately Station Eleven is just an outright snore fest. No, I wasn't expecting some apocalyptic Walking Dead clone. I wanted an engaging show with interesting characters and storyline that would keep me hooked. It does none of these things well.
I've never read the book so I can't comment on how accurate the series is to its source material.
It's hilarious that people are trying to paint this show as some form of high art(oh it mentions shakespeare? Surely it must be some high-brow stuff!), and that anyone who doesn't like it is some MAGA-loving troglodyte. It really goes to show how terrible TV audiences today are, especially in the US where every single issue or critique is blamed on someones political bias.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
SO boring.
I literally cannot believe how bad the first 2 eps have been.
First of all, all the tusken raider garbage is just cringy. It's hilarious how boba fett is supposed to be one of the most feared bounty hunters of all time and yet needs to take amateur stick fighting lessons from a random tusken raider.
The difference between this and the Mandalorian is that the latter at least has grogu to carry the show. There is just nothing interesting about boba fett and they can't even rely on a storied past for nostalgia's sake either since all he's known for in the movies is just some random bad ass who barely talks.
The only thing i'm looking forward to now is Sophie Thatcher to show up, whos killing it in Yellowjackets (a show actually worth watching!)
Ghostland (2018)
Disturbingly good
First of all, I want to say I'm sorry for what happened to the actress Taylor Hickson on the set of this movie. For what its worth, her performance as well as Emilia Jones made for a brutally convincing psychological horror movie. Its a crowded genre and I feel this one sticks out as one of the better ones.
People know that most horror movies usually resolve on a somewhat good note, but kudos to the actresses/writers/directors for making it really seem like the characters were in a completely inescapable hell.
Definitely recommend this for horror lovers!
Cobra Kai (2018)
didn't expect much but was blown away
LOVED THIS! It really kept with that 80s vibe without feeling forced. Music choices were awesome. Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) was menacing, sad and hilarious. Sam Larusso was played wonderfully by Mary Mouser. Hopefully we'll see a bit more of her in karate action in season 2. The only gripe I had was some of the writing felt a bit unnatural in order to get you to cheer for a specific guy (Johnny Lawrence's son). He was just too smug to like. All the karate kid flashbacks were tasteful and the tribute EP to Mr Miyagi felt truly sincere.
