Thunderheart (1992)

Simply wonderfulmovie. A modern classic. The story hides a real dark side of modern america with successful, though despicable supression of the native american indian . All actors, especially richard greene are magnificent.
The Two Jakes (1990)
two jakes
For some reasonthere is a film comes along that is generally not approved of but a person genuinely loves it. Hence myself and the two jakes. I suppose it is because i loved the original, but i suspect it is much much more. The two jakes is a little confusing and convoluted but to me is still a modern film noir classic. The main base of the story is the protection of katherine mulray by two completely different men, for entirely different reasons. The acting is smooth and the ending fulfills those reasons completely. One jake loved katherine but was dying. One loved katherine s dead mother and needed to exercise a ghost. Watch it again ....it is a grower.
Night of the Demon (1957)
simply one of the best horror films ever made
Though it lacks the money and special effects of later films. this is a superb film based on a superb story. it also reminds me very much of the equally wonderful quatermass and the pit ......excellent
Taggart: Point of Light (2008)
the big sleep
I was struck straight away with the simularities between this episode and the big sleep. An important man looking for his wayward daughter, a private eye murders and another more refined daughter in the plot, must be some kind of homage. i preferred the 2 hour Taggart s but this is another highly competent episode with an edge ....a good watch....wonder where bogart is?
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Excellent film though the running time is a touch too long. it recaptures the atmosphere of ridley scott s original classic. ryan gosling is excellently detached until the truth becomes more apparent. to me it is engrossing and successfully attempts to tie the knots of phillip dick s compelling vision. the question of new life was always at the forefront of both these intruiging films
