The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
A completely unnecessary chapter...
With the exception of the last 15 minutes of the movie, it was a sad parody of the greatest television series ever. Stoll's Corrado, Farmiga's Livia, and Liotta's incarcerated brother are the only performances noteworthy for good reasons. Barenthal was unbelievable as Johnny Boy, Odom was bland, but John Magaro's ridiculous caricature of Silvio Dante (an already ridiculous caricature, but in an endearing way) was an almost distractingly bad performance in a field of sub-par performances.
Plodding, slow storytelling and pace, and not at all worthy of being associated with The Sopranos.
Candyman (2021)
Could've been better, but...
Became mired down with silly nonsensical wokeisms. The re imagining of the tale was well done. It's a shame the unique take and the solid performances had to be so diminished by dopey narratives.
Ray Donovan: The Dead (2019)
It is obscene what they've done to this series.
This show has become stunningly awful. From the painfully predictable "twists" to the pseudo-art house cutaway by film school flunkies, to the absolute and utter betrayal of the characters they spent 4 seasons cultivating, the only reason I'm continuing to watch this show is morbid curiosity. Any characters I liked in the first 4 season I now either loathe or are wholly indifferent to.
Ray Donovan: A Girl Named Maria (2018)
Now they've moved to silent, nonsensical episode recaps?!
Nothing short of criminal what they've done to this series. The first 4 seasons were so entertaining. Since then, there has been maybe 4 episodes that are even decent.
