Full Metal Panic! (2002)
Never seen a funnier show!
i don't think I've ever laughed so much at each episode of an anime. This show is rather short, and has no plot to speak of, the characters basically just fool around and get into trouble. The first show in the series, Full Metal Panic!, is split between comedy and action adventure, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is pure comedy. Most anime comedies mix comedy together with more drama like elements (romance, drama etc) this show does not, all it try's to do is make you laugh, which it does an excellent job at, only bringing in romantic elements very rarely. The shows characters are incredibly endearing and I was never bored with them. This show is very good at slapstick comedy, and since that's all it strives for, I can't really say that anything is wrong with it, because it doesn't have a lot of elements to it, but the ones it has it's very good at, so if slapstick is what you like, you will love this show.
Fate/Zero (2011)
This is one of the most impressive TV shows I have ever seen
This is a good example of how great anime can be. The plot is very well done and only gets better as the show progresses, showing development in the characters as the conflict continues. Each character is given a good deal of screen time and development, and there is a lack of a main character, which makes it all the more interesting. The show also questions many things noted as honorable and questions them, such as what it truly means to be a hero and if honor is truly selfless. Fate/Zero also spared no expense on the animation, each movement flows beautifully, and the action is truly something to behold, with a fantastic musical score as well. In short, this show is very well done and has an excellent story, with amazing action sequences and beautiful music. I cannot praise Fate/Zero enough, you're doing yourself a a big disservice by not watching this, however, it does contain some very bloody scenes and gas very dark subjects and disturbing characters, if you do not enjoy dark stories, you may not be able to enjoy this show, if you can look past this, you are sure to enjoy.
Man of Tai Chi (2013)
Not ground breaking, but very pleasing
Man of Tai Chi is a very enjoyable movie, but it may not be for everyone. The plot and characters are fairly straight forward, and the fight scenes are fairly grounded, so they won't be too exciting if you're in the mood for a crazy, physics breaking, brawl movie, however this compliments the tone of the movie rather nicely. This is a subtle movie, and it has a lot of heart, the action sequences focus less on trying to be big and explosive and more on showing a brutal, fairly realistic struggle that also sheds light on the mental state of the main character, in other words. The fights in this movie are not as flashy and stylized as other movies, this however did not detract from my enjoyment, because of the more tooth and nails style of the fights, it made them feel more like a struggle to survive than a choreographed martial arts show. As for the story, it is much more personal than you'd expect, instead of being focused on crime and criminals, which are certainly big elements of this movie, it's more about the main character's inner struggle about who he wants to be and how he wants to win his battles. This type of story wouldn't work without good actors. The performances are not award worthy, but they are enjoyable and you can't help but be excited to see what the characters do next. This is a straightforward, grounded fighting movie, with a personal story and good characters, not as stylized as other martial arts movies, but this fact adds to its tone and story, all in all, a well done, entertaining movie with an endearing message.
