The Marvels (2023)
The most undermined Marvel superhero
Unless you have less than 15 years old or have daughters, don't even bother to pay a ticket to watch it. Bad FX, bad script, bad character development and bad story development. It looks like someone asked chatgpt to write a script to introduce the new group of Marvel superheroes using Captain Marvel. 15m into the movie and I still was trying to figure out the plot, the why's... it's really bad. Nick Furry is caricature of what we're used to. Captain Marvel is a joke of what she's capable to do. The cats and the FX are so bad. It's like I was watching a Disney channel kids show. Bad jokes, no emotions, only a teenager who can't stop screaming of excitement . This movie is a joke. Why do they even bother to release it to the theater? I'm sad, because I like Captain Marvel, but it has been undermined since the beginning. The most powerful Marvel superhero is just a joke in this movie as well as everything else. RIP Captain Marvel movies .
Blue Beetle (2023)
Cliché after cliché
I was excited to watch the movie after I saw the trailer. It promised to be good. Then...is this trying to be an homage to Mexican Americans? Trying to be do for Latino's what others did for the Asian community? It looks the movie is written by Chatgpt, with too much over the top Mexican clichés. I'm not Mexican but I'm what people like to classify as Latino based on my place of birth, and I felt that this movie tries to put all Latino's clichés on the same box. Everything is predictable, and the story is just childish. I could give it 1 for rating, but I don't want to be too mean. Susan Sarandon is the white token on this movie, which I also feel bad for having such a great actress doing such a bad role. I feel that, if the writers were not so focused on trying to make the film so Mexican American, the movie could have gone on a different and better direction. It doesn't connect the dots. Here is the take away of the movie: Mexican American are hard workers who are treated as secondary citizens, no matter how well educated they are. Family is the most important thing to them, they always have a crazy uncle that does stupid things but they are always there for the family. Oh, granny's are bad ass when it comes to protecting the family. Bottom line, its a movie for American Mexicans. The question is, do they feel it's a good movie for them? The FXs are great though...
The Bubble (2022)
A satirical view on Hollywood Community
It's not a movie/film for everyone. It's clever and stupid at the same time. It shows a rotten Hollywood community and how actors/actresses are chosen, how their lives are controlled and how they have meaningless and shallow lives. They create a Covid-19 Bubble to deliver a sequel of a famous Blockbuster franchise, and by amplifying the situations to a level of stupidity it unmasks how sick the Hollywood community actually is. Just as "Don't look up" this is a movie/film that reflects our current society and how blockbusters movies are made. Not being serious, it actually tackles a lot of problems with the Hollywood film industry. It's like a slap on the face of Hollywood actors :). It's just a fun way to do it. Look beyond the ridiculousness of most of the situations, and you'll find a lot of truth in it. Casting based on TikTok number of followers, becoming the oldest actress on the set, even though she's younger than the male protagonists, using drugs to cope with pressure while producers are having the time of their lives...it's all there. It's a fun movie to watch and it's pretty spot on 😂. I'm sorry that many didn't like it, and were unable to appreciate the story behind the stupidity 😁.
The Feed (2019)
Do you like BLACK MIRROR? Then you will love this!
This is an extended Black Mirror episode turned into a series :). It has all the elements typical of a Black Mirror episode, but it takes the time to develop the concept. It's futuristic, it's a vision of a possible tomorrow, it makes you think about the consequences, it questions the moral of current decisions, it criticizes current social-media society and all wrapped in a thriller.
So yes, it's a great. I'm sad that it's Amazon doing it and not Netflix as they bought Black Mirror.
Nevertheless...if you love Black Mirror, you will like "The Feed"
Hunter Killer (2018)
Great War/Action Movie. Way better than I expected
Let's evaluate the movie as it is, a great action/war movie. Of course it's about Americans saving the world, but let's not put that into account The movie is well written, has great tension and action scenes and it keeps you waiting for what's coming next. And it's not because Russians are bad or that Americans are better. NO. Let's face it, if we come to a nuclear war, Americans and Russians for certain will be in the middle. They are part of the problem, so it's better they will be part of the solution too :). Politics aside, there are good guys and bad guys on both sides. The ones that want war, and the ones who want to avoid it. It's great war movie. Most bad reviews are just because they don't stand Americans, or because they find it clichet to have US and Russians in a middle of a nuclear tension. Ok. Does that mean if it was China vs India would it be better? The movie is great, and it's fiction anyway, so why bother with that kind of logic. Grab the popcorn's and enjoy it :).
First Man (2018)
All that is Wrong with this movie!
First of all, I get it!
Everything that is shown in the movie is in sync with what was ok on that era.
Ok! I understand that. Now...lets examine the movie.
1) Why is the movie only about Neil Armstrong ? What was the purpose ? What does the movie tries to transmit ? I really don't know. OK, I'm not a guy that follows the "cult of personality", but ok. If the movie is about trying to create a cult around Neil, I understand....but they fail. See who Russians, Communists or even Fascists to it.
2) Why there is no interaction between Neil and Buzz ? It's like Buzz is a passenger on the mission. :(. They never interact during the movie until they are in the same cockpit. Really ?
3) What is the purpose of the movie ? Just watching Neil's wife with her hair cut short in the 60's I immediately knew that she was probably a strong woman. does that shows on the movie ?...not that much. Lame!
LAME! the movie is lame! It's not about having the US flag on the movie...it's about the fact that the movie is dysfunctional. 7 out of 10 ? No way! I would give it a 1...but it has good FX effects :).
Sorry. But this movie is out of think with reality Oh, we wanted to give a message...really ? What message ?
If it was about putting a message to the new generation, I would suggest to the Older Neil to be present and give his opinion based on what if has learned. I know that what is presented is what was reality at that time...but making Buzz like an extra in the movie is too. :(
Go back to the story board and make it better
:(
Upstart Crow (2016)
Intelligent historical comical review
This is a very intelligent show. Not everyone will be able to find the humour on it. It uses a lot of sarcasm and pictures the Shakespearean era with a lot of parallels to current days. The way it describes the public transportation delays and problems, we can always relate to what happens nowadays. One of the characters I can relate directly with Ricky Gervais personas (don't know why :) ). The critics about women's role in the society, political and government laws are always amusing. The way it dismantles Shakespeare work and how it should be interpreted is hilarious. In summary, if you like the intelligent English humour, and wish to learn a little bit more about Shakespeare life on a very flexible way...it is a must.
Two and a Half Men: Of Course He's Dead: Part 1 & 2 (2015)
The Final Stone
After Charlie left, the show should have been canceled. Even with new actors, all jokes were always around Charlie trying to survive the inevitable, revealing that after all Two and a Half Men, was Charlie dependent. I confess that I lost the interest, since all jokes were always personal sad offenses to Charlie, with little imagination. If Jon Cryer was a sad character before, it became even more sad and lame after firing Charlie. Everything was predictable.
The last episode is no different...but worst. For me it's a personal attack to Charlie Sheen. It's how Chuck Lore says to Charlie how mad he is with him for forcing him to kill this show.
In the end, this is the episode that Chuck wrote after he fired Charlie, but waited 4 years so he could make more money with it.
But it's personal, no doubt. As has been happening for the last 4 years, it's just an episode with sad and lame jokes about Charlie behavior, and in the end he kills Charlie again...just because he can, and also says he still didn't forget.
It would be very interesting to see Chuck and Charlie in the same room...I think it would be more hilarious than this show was in the end.
Nevertheless, it's the episode that was missing since 2011. Now "Two and a Half Men" can finally rest in peace.
