Justified: Slaughterhouse (2012)
Finally some justice happens
The acting is this episode was so great, especially Olyphant, who's rage at Tom Bergen's murder, showed so brightly in his eyes. Just terrific stuff.
Meanwhile on of the sleaziest and creepiest villains finally gets taken out, though I would have loved it to be longer and more torturous. In fact many scenes were too short. Such as Limehouse seeing the kid who betrayed him saving his life and dying.
Meanwhile Ava has become a full blown Crowder but in a strange way, her and Boyd are a great couple. He is super loving and more importantly respects her and she sees it. Their reunion when Boyd gets off was brief bit sweet.
Perhaps my favorite part was when Winona finds out what Raylan meant when he said "he shot at a man in a hat". Not only is she beautiful but she had some great acting chops.
The Goldbergs: Worst Grinch Ever (2022)
Another terrible episode in a terrible season
Thank goodness this is the last season. Besides the awful decision to fire the actor who played Murray and kill him off, what they did to Brea and Adam was senseless. She was the best part of the last few seasons and if anyone was his true love it's her but they not only have them break up, and go with the inferior Carmen, they had to bring her back just to rub it in her face. Literally no reason for that.
The only saving grace is Barry has stopped screaming so much, he was the most annoying character because of it. And Erica has become less mean too.
And why does the JTP, especially Matt Bradley, hang out with Barry or the Frentas with Beverly. The meanness if not only not funny anymore, it's too unrealistic.
Brea Bea, you were awesome as usual! You lit up every scene you were in and I will miss your character.
Ted Lasso: Carol of the Bells (2021)
Weak episode, show is losing its way.
Some nice moments, another political line that served no purpose, Nate continues to turn bad and Sam continues to go from a humble likable guy, someone you rooted for, to pompous and annoying. Very weak. Where is the genuine sweetness and positivity from season 1, not this imitation stuff?
Ted Lasso: Do the Right-est Thing (2021)
What I feared, Ted Lasso going political and Hollywood.
The people in Hollywood just can't help themselves. You take a show with likable characters, a UNITING theme of kindness and caring for each other, and you just have to insert politics into it. Started with little comments here and there but now it's full blown.
Those here who liked it and applaud politics brought into entertainment only say that because it's THEIR political view and it usually is. They would not be in favor if it if it was the other side. More white privilege nonsense and ok to protest during a game and even putting said if you agree with the themes, why here? Why in this show? And worse of all, taking a likable character like Sam and making him more and more unlikable. Same with the rest. And in a show that was supposed to make everyone feel good and the turn divisive. Don't we have enough of that elsewhere?
So far, season 2 is not the same show and for the worse.
Ted Lasso: Biscuits (2020)
They have to be careful
So far so good except I agree with the army man scene and the Nigerian player being an awkward insert/dig at America. Besides the fact that Nigerians are actually the most successful immigrant group in the US, it just felt off. And right now it's a wonderful, positive and uplifting show with no politics that appeals to all. Keep it that way please.
Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019)
Good show with issues
Some cast members are really good but the biggest problem is the main character of Maya is just so unlikeable and pompous. The political stuff ruined the mostly good personal stuff. Best character for me was Jemma, very nuanced. And Ansley did a great job too.
Nowhereland (2016)
Sad but true
Early Kickstarter supporter because of my belief in the talents on this film, especially Robin Bain, the creative force. And I was not disappointed. It is without doubt a must see.
Underdog Kids (2015)
The Negative Reviews Miss The Point
These bad reviews are the problem with critics. Everything is about what they personally like and not an unbiased review. Is this movie The Godfather? No. But it's not meant to be. This is a kids movie and as such, it is very enjoyable.
That's not to say there wasn't some things that could have been done much better, and the directing was not all it could be. But it was very sweet with a good message and the talents of the kids were incredible.
Corny? Yes? Simplistic at times? Also yes. A fun time with your little ones? Yes, unless you're a cynic who wants their kids to be a hard and ugly as the adult world can be.
Fun little kids movie. Nothing more and nothing less and that's OK.
