The Forbidden Dimensions (2013)
The budget should have been used on a script.
For me to say all that is wrong with the film, I'd end up writing something longer than the script. This film was abysmal. No one in the film could act. The script was laughable. I truly believe that the budget was spent on the sets and the endless amount of strippers hired to play peripheral characters. I don't hate the film, but there are so many problems with the plot that I was getting a headache just trying to figure out what was going on. The creepiest scene in the film came when the sadly lackluster leading man sees his mother dancing nude in a night club....of course the fact that she looked the same as she did forty years earlier was also a head scratcher. Have fun with this one. Totally recommended for a MSTK style viewing.
Grave Secrets: The Legacy of Hilltop Drive (1992)
Fun Nostalgia
Think Poltergeist minus the crazy special effects. I enjoyed the film, quite a bit. Patti Duke, David Soul and Dark Shadows' David Selby were all a huge part of my childhood so seeing them all in the same film was very gratifying for me. For a made for TV film, the look of the film was quite good. It's a more realistic view of how an average family would deal with a haunting, as opposed to many blockbusters, where the characters seem less unconvinced and more vehement that everything is okay. The only problem I had with the film was some of the over done "folksy charm" of the characters. If you're looking for the Conjuring or Insidious, this isn't the film for you. If you're looking for a spooky little film with familiar faces, you'll love this one.
