Joan of Arcadia (2003)
Excelente
This show easily became one of my favorite dramas. There is a lot of great humor coupled with compelling plots and twists. The acting is very good, but I do have some complaints. The show attempts to create a subplot by using Joan's father's police work. It fits, but it definitely isn't what the viewers want to see. My brother often changes the channel during these scenes. The police plots are never very original. They've obviously already been done. The characters are all well-developed and fit in with the show, especially Joan's friends at school. Some of the episodes get way too dramatic, and you sort of want to tell the characters to relax, so it's hard to watch two episodes right in a row. I definitely give this show a high recommendation. You should definitely check it out.
Arrested Development (2003)
Best Show Ever.
I forgot when I first started watching this show, but after five minutes into the episode I was hooked. Unlike any other show on television, this show was created to push television sitcoms into progress; not to make money. The show is definitely character-based and is shot like a reality television show without a laugh reel. You could have a television show for each member of the cast in Arrested Development. The dialogue is very smart and witty. This show is unlike any other show ever made, and I'll even put it ahead of Seinfeld.(that's right, I said it) And if you think the first season is good, the second season will blow you away. I've watched each episode at least twice, and they don't get boring. This show is a must see. You'll definitely miss out on a truly great show if you don;t see it.
Xing fu shi guang (2000)
Can't Get much better.
This file is a definite must-see. I haven't witnessed many movies that are this touching, beautiful, and inspiring. I will not go through the entire plot, but I'll give you a rough sketch. An elderly man begins dating a woman who has a blind daughter who is treated very poorly. This man begins to show a deep amount of compassion towards this . The acting is brilliant, and the story is very touching. One of the scenes alone makes this movie, in which the begins feeling the elderly man's face. Happy Times is shot entirely in Chinese, which diminishes nothing from the film, it only add to it. I highly recommend this film. It should be everything you're looking for in a film.
Osama (2003)
Gifted Piece of Work
When I first came across this film, I thought it would be about Osama Bin-Laden. Needless to say it wasn't. This movie tells the story of a who is disguised as a boy to help her family during the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan. The film is shot entirely in Arabic. The story is very sincere and genuine. The movie itself is very mesmerizing. Few American eyes have ever seen this culture or blanketing of rights by a government. As with other foreign movies, the plot is different and you get the a different perspective on a topic. The acting is superb. You would expect a film like this to be flimsy, but it never is. I highly recommend Osama to anyone getting sick of seeing the same movies only with different titles.
