Death Game (1977)
Why....?
This truly is one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life, i didn't expect a classic, but it defies belief how anyone would release this. Three fairly decent actors so i thought it would be half decent, it is cringeworthy how insufferable this is. I am amazed the director had the nerve to show his face in public again! There really are no redeeming features for this film, whether it be plot, acting, music ,etc. If you value you're sanity do not watch this, if you do prepare to be annoyed and/or bored for nearly 90 minutes. It may have been made in 1977, but there are some incredibly good films made long before this.
The Real Prime Suspect (2019)
Excellent real life detective series.
This is an example of how excellent real life crime documentaries should be made. A lot is fitted into an hour, but it never seems rushed. The brilliant and dedicated Jackie Malton is terrific along with other members of the criminal justice system, in relaying what are some very gripping and often horrendous examples of crimes. She should be commended also on how the series maintains a focus not on the deviant criminals, but the victims and their families. A terrific series.
Beware the Slenderman (2016)
Where is the victim here ??
I have done some research about this case, so i found this documentary both Terrible, one-sided, and disturbing. The whole thing at nearly two hours long includes far too much about this ridiculous character the girls who committed this brutal crime blamed it upon. One of them though she may be at the start of a lifelong mental illness, it is pretty obvious at the time of the crime that they both knew what they were doing was wrong. In fact they had been planning it for nearly six months prior. The stupidity of the so called experts psychiatrists and psychologists is truly baffling, in my opinion both girls at just 12 years old seemed to have manipulated the system. We have seen this before and I really hope they cannot hurt anyone else. My thoughts are with the brave victim and her family, since both the defendant's families don't seem that remorseful either. Could have been a gripping and deep look at an appalling case, felt like a sympathy plo from two highly disturbed and dangerous children.
The Girlfriend Experience (2016)
Dull and tedious
Season One was all i watched and that was enough. No real character development or plot really, just repetition until a very underwhelming final episode.
Where the Truth Lies (2005)
Well worth seeing.
I really liked this film, for a couple of reasons. The actors in it i all like and did a great job in this film, and the story is quite gripping and carries you along with it. It's not perfect but i enjoyed the twists and turns and very good performances.
Crash (1996)
Garbage.
I tried to watch as i am a fan of James Spader and Holly Hunter, but this garbage was so void of anything interesting that i didn't get past about 50 minutes. A waste of time.
The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995)
A wasted effort
A quick review-good acting by Ashley Judd and Viggo Mortenson cannot save this from a poor script, and some ludicrously over the top scenes. It is a pity because it starts out with a little promise.
Peacock (2010)
Very good but left unsatisfied.
I really did like this film from almost start to finish, the acting by all involved is fantastic with some great people involved. Not easy subject matter but it was co-ordinated very, very well. I will not spoil it but i felt as though the whole film was building up to something, and at the end i just felt cheated. On the whole a quite unusual film with a good narrative, i just feel it could have been left with something very different at the end.
Funny Games (2007)
Pointless garbage.
For your own sanity just do not bother, a film that thinks it is far cleverer than it is. Solid acting but just a complete waste of time.
American Psycho (2000)
Over hyped garbage.
Simple review here, i wish i could go back in time and get those 101 minutes back!
The Rental (2020)
Don't bother-Rent something else.
The first half hour or forty minutes showed some promise for this film, and the acting was pretty good. However after that the plot falls apart, and it degenerates into every other dumb slasher-type flick that you wish you hadn't wasted 90 minutes on. Utter garbage, the four stars is really only for the acting.
Gerald's Game (2017)
Great acting but sadly that does not save this farce.
Great acting by the lead actors, but pitiful in most other ways. Suspension of some truth is ok in fiction, but complete suspension of reality is offensive to viewers.
Crawl (2019)
Just don't you'll never get the time back!
Seriously bad film,it could have been fun but you knew exactly what was coming at every point. The acting was pretty good but the CGI effects and excruciatingly unlikely behaviour of the characters just made it more pathetic than funny.Have a nice coffee instead.
