Quantico (2015)
Whatever alternative you might have is probably better
There's a terrorist on the loose! And his or hers plan or identity has something to do with a certain class of FBI trainees!
The plot is far fetched from the first five minutes onward, everyone seems to make the worst possible decision at any given moment and the suspence is wasted as it turns out the series is based almost entirely on cheap thrills without any real substance.
To be fair, there's some nice drama on the past timeline (the training at Quantico), but the present timeline is ludicrous and at some point I was beginning to wonder whether the series is simply about humiliating the FBI.
I hope the real life FBI has smarter people than the ones on the show. Otherwise, Anerica is doomed.
I didn't finished the first season and I don't plan to. I gave 2/10 - should have been 1/10, but the extra star is for the nice drama parts.
Kôkaku kidôtai: Stand Alone Complex (2002)
I am TRULY heartbroken
Maybe the 1995 and the 2017 movies set the expectations so high, it's just not possible to enjoy the series, but I tried to give it a fair chance - sadly my rating is 5/10. Albeit some nice plot turns and background, The stories tend to be unfocused and half baked, the oversimplified main arc streaches well beyond what is appropriate, and, worst of all, in contrastto the intriguing title, Ghost In The Shell (meaning the human consciousness inside a machine body, as in a cyborg), the series DOES NOT explore this subject, but rather follows the work of an elite police force, which happens to come by cases that are shadowed by this subject, by a clear connection is never made.
I'm sorry, I did not find here what I was looking for. Good potential, wasted to make a mediocre police drama.
