Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Dr Strange and the hot mess of a plot
Visually nice to look at, performances are solid but the plot let the whole thing down as it was hard to really care about anyone or what might become of them due to the utter dearth of dramatic tension. Big fight followed by more big fights and so on and so on. I guess you could argue that due to the multiverse this comes with the territory but the result was dull and lifeless.
Tiempo compartido (2018)
Let down by the ending
This films is certainly not fast paced but it builds the characters well. The two males growing sense of alienation is palpable and the film builds a good levels of tension as to what might happen when one of them snaps. Sadly the ending when it comes is very anticlimactic and feels rather muddled and rushed.
Nice to see the child from Breaking Bad as the Time Share messiah figure to those that have drunk the Kool-aid.
The Vault (2017)
The bank heist horror that nobody asked for
I have no issue with genre mixing but blending a bank heist film with a horror seemed an odd choice to me from the outset. The cast did their best with some ropey dialogue, a plot that made very little sense, and little or no character development. Taryn Manning is reliable as always, James Franco has a strange pained/ constipated expression on his face for much of the film. It is not scary in anyway, shape or form. The 'twist' is not a big surprise. Not utterly awful but i would avoid unless you have an hr and a half you desperately need to fill
