Serial killing For Dummies . . . By Dummies
5 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
What is it about this concept that has now created two of the worst thrillers in recent history? (The first being the Sly Stallone atrocity "Eye See You", ironically seen by very few). In all honesty, I think the idea -- A group of law enforcement types trapped in a confined area, then stalked and slaughtered by a serial killer -- has potential for a really cool flick . . . This sure as hell ain't it. The so-called Feds here never seem to have come across a dead body in their lives (The female lead is not only nauseated by real corpses but bloodied dummies as well), let alone trained as profilers. The writers, meanwhile, seem to have never met a cliché they didn't like. Toss into this 'sh** stew' director Renny Harlin (who once upon a time actually had talent) inventing up increasingly ridiculous camera angles (Stay tuned for the clock's POV!)every two minutes or so, a kinetic fight sequence out of a (bad) Jet Li flick and some of the silliest (not to mention contrived) murders on celluloid and you have . . . this. The most scariest thing about this movie is that the finale -- Featuring a laughable underwater face-off --was apparently the best of five allegedly filmed endings. Now that truly boggles the mind.

MILD THINGS - Lame pun for a lame flick
3 September 2005
What does WILD THINGS 2 have going for it from the get-go . . . A) No Denise Richards B)No name actors C)Being a crappy direct-to-video sequel D) No Denise Richards NAKED.

What does WILD THINGS 2 have going against it after the fact . . . A) A script attempting to overcompensate its lameness with enough twists to make your head spin B)ONE sex scene; a threesome -- One of the only links to the original C)Sexy actresses in a sexy movie who refuse to show some skin (This leaves us with a body double and bare back) D) Just plain bad acting (The femme fatale comes across more as a foul-mouthed, petulant 6-year-old) . . .

And I won't even get into the scene where a character is shot above the shoulder blade. However, upon hitting the ground, the fatal wound is now five inches lower!

Did I mention no Denise Richards?
