The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Always in Rotation on my Media Player
There are few shows that I can watch every single day without a break. The Big Bang Theory just happens to be one of them. I have the entire series (and load new ones with every new season) in a folder on my media hard drive and often just put it on play and let it run in the background while I'm doing other things. It is simply the funniest show on television.
I would say my favorite character on the show is Sheldon, as the Penny and Lennard improbability can get a little old at times. But, there are enough sub plots to keep you going, and the writing seems to be top notch.
It's interesting to see so many cast members from Rosanne.
Learn the Bible in 24 Hours (2005)
Great for a New Christian
I was introduced to Chuck Missler's material when I first became a Christian in Germany. I remember how helpful this series was when I went through it the first time. Twenty-four, one hour sessions, covering the bible from Genesis to Revelation, in a laid back, informal manner, yet dense with many facts, examples, and lots of statistical data.
It you want a firm foundation in the message of the bible, but don't want to or don't have the time to go to bible college or undergo intensive study, this is the perfect alternative. You can listen to it on the go, and it also comes with a study notes booklet.
It also doesn't matter what denomination you might be, as Missler does a good job of covering the beliefs of most of them.
Lost (2004)
Perfect for Binge Watching
If I was stranded on a deserted island, the one show I would pick to have with me would be Lost. It has everything. Escaped animals. Strange monsters in the jungle. Shipwrecks. Ghosts. And a bunch of other even weirder stuff.
I never watched this show while it was actually on, but spent several days binge watching the series about two years ago. By the third episode, I was hooked. By the second season I was in love. By the time I sat down to watch the series finale, I was utterly dumbfounded to see how it all finally ended. But, wow, what an ending.
Apparently, I take the ending a little too literally, so my view on how the story plays out is not what most people believe. But, I don't care. It just make sense my way.
I couldn't imagine watching this show one episode per week. It's best watched in 7-10 hour segments, every day, until you finish.
I think if Tom Hanks would have had this DVD set when he was stranded on his island, he probably would never have left.
Dances with Wolves (1990)
A Classic Movie
I absolutely love this movie, and watch it at least once per year. Costner did a great job, and so do the rest of the cast. There are some places in the film that seem a little sketchy, but overall, it is a wonderful story.
This movie contributed to my interest in local Native American history, though this movie is set in the mid-west and not the Pacific Northwest. It is incredibly sad how the Native Americans were treated across America during this time period. There is no excuse for the atrocities that occurred, yet it was also inevitable, given the circumstances.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who would like to lose themselves in a story with a great ending. It's a great weekend movie where you just just kick back and relax, grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy!
