Among the therapies, doctor appointments and trying to get meals and showers, I try to stay connected to people through social media and reach out to others who have lost their lives due to illness, pain and injury.
With each day being so full of pain, limitations and trying to find an answer to my agony, I have to be intentional about finding joy in my life. God is my first source of peace and comfort. My second would be my pets, who bring me joy, love and help me to keep fighting (yes that is a goat in my profile image). Third, would be good television and movies to help me jump out of myself and my own story and into the life and story of others.
I find that good TV is hard to find these days. I am not interested in shows that are all about drama, people lying to each other and hopping in bed with someone right and left (it's hard to avoid, but at least don't be graphic people). I enjoy true stories of heroes, people who have endured or overcome tragedy, fictional stories with characters who have integrity or fight for justice and writing that encourages people to be loving, caring and helpful to their fellow humans. And, of course, I do like science fiction, action and fantasy genres to just enjoy and escape.

The Healing Powers of Dude (2020)
Great Family Show with Awesome Messages!
This is a wonderful family show! It tackles great subjects like social challenges, bullying, standing up for yourself, perseverance, kindness, friendship and learning that differences are just differences and we are all valuable people.
The parents, of course, are made out to be a little obnoxious (probably the kids' views), but they are very loving and supportive. All of the characters have fun personalities and the kids are all great actors and very talented. The friend, Simon and the little sister are very funny!
Just a side note: Emotional Support Animals do not have legal public access rights like Service Dogs do. However, I am sure some schools make an acception. 😁
The Unlisted (2019)
Series for the Family - If You Look Past a Few Things
As an adult, I found it a little slow, cheesy and some not so great acting. But I think it is geared towards kids and I appreciate family friendly films! It probably is a lower budget project, but not all shows have to be huge budget blockbusters. There is room for creativity and imagination, even if you don't have a big budget. What's more, it is nice to see a series that is fun for the whole family! I am so sick of movies and television being full of profanity, violence and disgusting scenes. This one is clean, the kids work together and they appreciate their family and what they have. If you have kids, this is something you all can watch together.
The Lion King (2019)
Stunning Animation. Beautiful Story.
While I really enjoyed this movie, I noticed many people are comparing it to the original. I can totally see how many people would be disappointed with some story, character and musical changes. It's true that it seems the characters don't seem as physically and emotionally strong and wild with their facial expressions and body language. Nevertheless, that was a cartoon. This is not. I believe this movie is not meant to be the same. Therefore, I am looking at this movie for its value and not in comparison to the original. In fact, it is meant to be a bit more reserved and lifelike. I love that the characters look more real and act more like they would if the animal could talk. Having said that, I agree my mind stepped out of the movie, as I was tripped up on the acting of one of the characters and a few other issues. And, there were a couple of scenes (as part of the story) that were pretty disturbing.
Yes, I know there is always a tragedy and a villain. Not saying there shouldn't be. Just with the more true to life artistry, they seemed more realistic. At any rate, James Earl Jones was, of course, amazing! Moreover, I lost myself in the spectacular scenery and authenticity of the animals. To me, a sign of a good movie is when you feel like you are there. ... I felt like I was there!
72 Cutest Animals (2016)
Fun for Kids!
As an adult, I found this to be an OK show and agree with some other reviews that the title is confusing. They do try to explain it's not all about how "cute" the animals look, in a fuzzy and cuddly sort of way. Nonetheless, it is hard to get past that description. Maybe they should have called it, "72 Likeable Animals." That would be more inclusive for more animals people don't necessarily think are the cutest. Anyhow, I think it would be a FUN way for kids to learn about animals! They can guess where their favorite animals will line up, watch them move around the list ... and discover new favorite animals along the way!
Designated Survivor (2016)
Good Show Gone Raunchy!
Seriously? Is it really necessary to make everyone say the F-bomb even when it is definitely not appropriate or awkward? It is so obvious they are just inserting everywhere just because they can and to get ratings. I don't care that some people say that is real life. Give me a break! People don't talk like that in professional situations ... or at least they shouldn't. Even if they did, that doesn't mean I want your agenda of inserting it everywhere. So unnecessary! And why do I need to see naked people and explicit sex scenes? A well-written show doesn't need smut for good ratings. The show is now raunchy and disgusting. Disappointed in Keifer for selling out! You are better than that, Keifer ... at least I thought so. Changed my rating from an 8 to a 1. Gross!
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Quippy, Adorable and Addictive ... But at Times, Annoying
There is no doubt these two are the most loveable and adorable characters on the planet! I am mesmerized by their beauty and bubbly personalities! I think everyone loves them, because they really know how to create fun out of every situation!
Nevertheless, I also found their fast-paced and overly energetic conversations to be a little annoying. It was kind of like that really obnoxious friend who just won't stop talking.
What's more, though I think the intent of the writers was to just let us experience the up's and downs of life, without there being a set direction and predictable resolve, it seemed all over the place. Maybe that was the point. Life is not always as we plan it. ... But be sure not to miss the last episode of the Netflix four part, "A Year in the Life" if you want to see some resolve in the ongoing twist and turns.
All in all, the characters won my heart and I was sad to say goodbye to Stars Hollow.
The Rookie (2018)
I LOVE This Show
I wasn't sure if this was just going to be another soap opera police show. Of course there are relationships intertwined, but tastefully done. Most of all, the characters are very loveable! Nathan brings Rookie Officer Nolan to life with integrity, humor and charm! I look forward to a new episode every week!
